Come off contraception when can I get pregnant?

I'm new to this site and new to baby stuff.

My husband and I have decided to try for a baby. I was on the contraceptive implant which was removed in July, I then went onto Cerazette which is a mini pill straight after the implant came out. I stopped taking that at the beginning of October, but I didn't menstruate while I was on Cerazette (the dr told me some women have a cycle and some don't: cerazette doesn't always stop you ovulating, the purpose is to thin out the lining so that any fertilised egg can't implant in the womb and grow into a baby). I haven't had any bleeding since i've stopped contraception and I know that I ought to wait until i have a period before we start trying, but we want to get started as soon as we can.

I'm generally healthy, I am a healthy weight, take vitamins and everything, I just really want to start trying. Is there any way I can kick my body back into a cycle? The sooner I have a period the better I'll feel about trying for a baby. I don't think I've ever been so desperate for a period in my life!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as we don't want to share with any of our friends until we know we are pregnant, just in case we do have any problems... I'm sure you know what I mean.

Thanks,
Jennie

Hey i was on cerazette too.. i started trying the day i came off my periods returned that month as well.. they do say that after a few days it will be fully out of your system and things will be back to normal and fertility should return to normal but it really does vary hun.. I see no harm in you trying now apart from the fact that if you do fall pregnant it will be hard to date back to conception.. but we have scans for that kind of thing lol. If you do wait till your period returns you can always get some ovulation tests to reasure yourself because I always worried if i was going to ovulate or not after coming off the pill

Goodluck and loads of baby dust

I hope you get your soon

I'm just worried that after 6 weeks and no AF at all, not even a withdrawal bleed that there might be something wrong with me!

No it's normal.. some women start as soon as they come off.. some take a few days.. some weeks.. some months. It really does vary, so don't worry because else that might make it take longer. I'm sure it will come
If it worries you too much then go see your doctor about it to put your mind at ease and bare in mind they do say give it three months before TTC after coming off the pill to allow your periods to come back and regulate.

i had a bleed after losing, i went back on microgynon for 2-3 weeks and decided we wanted to try again (originally we were going to wait til after wedding) so came off that and had a withdrawl bleed...my cycle this time was 36 days. im hoping it will go back to its usual 28 days like before. i'm going out to buy myself a cbfm and thermometer tomorrow, this should be my 1st official cycle ttc but ...no OH, he is away atm! dammit! where is he when you need him lol!
it does recommend that you wait 3 natural cycles out until trying. i would say especially in your case since cerazette thins out the lining, not a very homely place for a little baba! - good luck!!

I was only on the pill. Dr told me I could become pregnant as soon as I went off or it could take up to 6 months for my body to regulate itself again. It just depends in your body. I was on seasonale. Only had AF every 3 months. I should be due for her tomorrow if I'm to be regular again and no signs, but I'm hoping to get a tomorrow or thanksgiving day!

FX for you dear and good luck!!

Hi JenniferLizzy,

I recently came of Cerazette after we decided to TTC and it took 8 long weeks for me to get AF! I was in your exact position a couple of weeks ago - I was just so desperate for a period so I could start trying properly and understanding my cycles.

I did buy some OPKs and I was pleased to see I ovulated 2 weeks before AF so I knew it was coming at some point.

I was also convinced after I had come off that I was expecting as I had loads of symptoms but Cerazette quite often does that to you apparently.

I have spoken to quite a few ladies on here who have come off Cerazette and a lot of them took weeks to get AF. I know it is really hard but you just have to be patient.

Good luck and hope AF arrives soon xx

I got pg the first cycle off Cerazette but I wish with all my heart I had waited! The docs now tell me it hugely increases your risk of ectopic pg even though they told me it was safe to start trying straightaway! Unlike other progesterone only pills, Cerazette is the only one to act on the ovaries to prevent you ovulating while you're on it. Had I not got pg that cycle would have been 45 days so your period is probably just around the corner. There is a team on here called Cerazette Casualties with even more girls who will know what you're going through. Best of luck and babydust on your journey. x

AF arrived today!!!! Counting my cycle from now and will try ovulation tests from day 21 (that's what my pack says) and we're trying anyway. It might not happen this month but keep all your fingers and toes crossed for me girls!!!! I'm just glad to know I'm having a cycle... not loving the pms though.

I need to get better at all of these abbreviations... have just about worked out most of them... a quick dictionary would be useful though!!!!

Thanks for all your advice!
xx
