Help with progesterone use

Hi I'm new so...please feel free to set me straight! I'm still trying to learn all the acronym's!

Anyhoo... I have had two very short lived chemical pregnancies in the last year and I am about to get my progesterone levels tested -in 6 days.

After DH and I did BD for 8 days straight at beach house, I believe we might have 'nailed it! ' I have early preg. symptoms - same as previous chemical pregnancies.

I would like to self medicate and begin use of progesterone immediately as opposed to waiting for test results (blood test on Thurs. results not till Mon.)as time is of the essence here! Even though a low progesterone count hasn't been determined yet can I safely use progesterone myself? I know I can't get the pessaries w/o prescription but can I buy over the counter creams? How much and how often? will it do any harm if I'm not defficient in this hormone. Just don't want to have another failure

any ideas, suggestions or info. would be great!

I don't know of any progesterone product that can be bought over the counter.
Has you Dr mentioned anything about this could possible be the problem and why you are MC?
Good luck I hope you get your sticky BFP

Is there any reason to think, besides the chemicals, that you have low progesterone? You can have chemicals and not have a problem and using it may put your hormones out of balance and mess up the next cycle. Do you normally sot very early before af comes or dont ovulate regularly, have very irregular periods? If not I would wait and see what the bloods show as you might not have a problem at all and could put your cycle out of wack.

thank you for that!

Ya, my Dr. mentioned that this could likely be the prob. but it's yet to be determined for sure. I'm just a little anxious that while I am waiting to find out, a lack of progesterone could be undermining an early preg.

Congrat's on your success! Fantastic!

For what it's worth, I was on progesterone supplements for months and months, prescribed, and I hadn't had my levels checked. My doctor prescribed them based on my symptoms which were spotting from 5dpo (LP is 12-13 days).

I had to take progesterone tablets every day from cd14 for 2 weeks and then stop them. Stopping the tablets means that your normal hormones kick in and af arrives if your not pg. If you are pg, then the idea is your levels will be slightly elevated and the pregnancy more chance to survive. With my 1st child i had to take prog for the whole first trimester.

In the end, I felt in myself that the progesterone tabs weren't doing anything - sometimes I spotted, sometimes not. So we stopped them and I had my levels tested - they were normal. But I got my bfp that month anyway, so they may be been higher due to that - it's all a mystery!

Anyway, what I'm saying is that I don't think taking progesterone can do you any harm at all, as long as you take it properly i.e. stop after 14 days and don't take it before ov. Does that make sense? SOrry feel like I'm rambling a bit!
