| Anyone else like me? Hi
I have been TTC since June 2006 - in that time I have always had a cycle of 28-30 days and every few months have used OPK's and always got positive results around day 14-16. I also get EWCM around that time too. So i have pretty much always felt that my body was working properly and that it was just a matter of time (although that didnt stop me from turning into a crazy woman every time AF turned up!).
However.... 19 months on I am starting to get really scared as I have not conceived at all during this time. Of all the woman I know they either got pregnant within in the first few months OR it took them 12 - 18 months because they had irrregular periods / didnt ovulate / did conceive but sadly had a miscarriage etc...
We started down the road of tests at the doctors last month and my DH's sperm has come back normal. I go for my day 2 blood tests next Tuesday.
Is there anyone else on here who is like me with a normal cycle and no obvious signs of a problem but hasnt conceive at all for over 18 months? - and have you started tests and everything been ok?
My DH didnt want to go to the doctors till we were over 18 months - and I agreed as I really thought I was ok - but now I am 19 months down the road to going completely insane and starting to hate myself for having left it so long to see a doctor.

| My theory is, that as long as you are not in your 40's (like me) then don't beat yourself up about leaving it so long. At least you can rest assured that you have tried your utmost the 'natural' way to conceive for as long as possible and any research or requests from your GP that you make now can be fully justified.
It does put an enormous strain on you though, no matter what age you are, so I can fully appreciate your feelings.
Consider yourself
Sometimes I feel like the voice of reason when I am exactly the same as everyone else when it comes to frustration and torment. |

| I’ve only been trying for 3-4 months but I feel for you. I personally will go to the dr if we don't conceive within a year .... that's what's recommended. So you’ve done the right thing seeing your dr.
I just don't get how some couples fall PG STRAIGHT AWAY (and usually that's from BDing like, once or twice in the month, annoyingly) then others takes ages despite BDing on a regular basis).
Have you read the Zita West book (UK’s leading fertility expert)? She said that if everything’s working fine, in her experience, the biggest cause for not conceiving is no BDing enough ALL THROUGHOUT the month, not just during you’re supposedly fertile time (so every 1-2 days from the moment your AF stops right up until it comes again). She also highlights proven problem areas with conceiving such as being overweight, stressed, etc etc. Might be worth buying that book.
Good luck anyway hon. x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Ive only been ttc for 9 months and so you must be really frustrated as i am and have been at it a lot less than you. Youve done the best thing going to the docs and at least youre on the road to finding out if everythings ok, I really hope everything is ok with you and hope you get your bfp soon. Trixie Lox has given me something to think of as I too do get a bit fed up of the pressure of having to bd at certain times but really didint ever think about just doing it more through the other times too. I guess its worth a try, might join you down Ann Summers Becki LOL! x | | | | Status: Offline

| Ha ha, pleased I've inspired u gals! I guess the key is to not focus on what u beleive to be your fertile time - cos that might be why you're not falling PG. Just enjoy lots of sex. She says go back to when u first met and you wanted sex all the time and have loadsa fun, experiment - treat the month like a 2nd honeymoon! OK, just looking at book - if you have sex 3 times a month, u will conceive in 15 months. If 10 times a month, u will conceive in 5 months. If more than 15 times a month, you will conceive in 3 and half months. Think these figures are based on research she does. I think OH and I will have BD'd about 12 times this cycle ... and we're really enjoying it (exhausting but good fun!). Will post this on a seperate topic. x |
