I'm Currently Feeling: | I know they won't usually do tests until a year of ttc but i think if you explaint that you have identifed a short leutal phase they should do something about it. I know they can prescribe progesterone so defo go the docs x |

I know its hard but try to stay positive, I was feeling really down around Xmas but got a CBFM which I have used for nearly a month now (we were talking about them in another thread). I must say it has been a lift for me checking each day and getting a really good feeling when it changed to high then peak and actually in a bizarre way took my mond of things - that sounds so illogical!
Could you try going back to the docs to explain about the short leutal phase they might start investigations earlier or go see another doc at your surgery. I went when we had been ttc for 8 months cause my perriods were very irregular and got a really good doc who got me an appointment at the clinic 2 months later.

| ooh i feel guilty. i started charting and realised i wasn't ovulated so went to docs. i knew about the "12 month rule" so i told him we'd been trying for longer than what we had, but that id just started charting and realised id not ovulated. i bugged him until he referred me to a specialist whom 'm now undergoing tests with. didn't see any harm in hurrying the process along. id get a new doc, tell them you've been trying for a year and that monitors and charting and cervical mucus indicate short luteal. they should be able to help you. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | hey loopylew i looked at my FF for you because i have been ttc about the same length of time as you and like you i was on the pill for years and my cycles have been all over the place. It seems it took until the 6th month off bcp for my cycles to regulate they have been 29 days the last 2 months and ovulating on cd15 on both. However before this they ranged from 21-33 days long and my luteal phase ranged from 7 days plus... (i didnt chart the luteal phase for the 1st three cycles so imagine they were also below 10 days). However now they are 14-15 days long.
I read on FF that from studies that have been done that it can take up to 9 months for people who were on the pill to get there cycles to regualte and stop having 'cycle disturbances' eg short luteal phase. So this could explain your problem...hopefully the next month or so this will naturally correct itself for you! I think you were on the pill for a couple of years longer than me (i was on it for 8 years so maybe that has something to do with it. I thought my cycles would never get on track but they did after 6 months so hopefully this will happen for you next cycle! Hope this helps! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | hi loopylew
I went to see a different GP within my practice, as I didn't particularly like the one I was registered with - I didn't appreciate talking to the side of his head. The GP I chose was a lovely female GP who was very empathetic and discussed EVERYTHING with me, from DH's tests to all the gory details of my potential tests. She took a Day 21 blood test and when she said it had shown that I was ovulating, asked me to decide which hospital I wanted to go to for further testing. I found that this speeded everything up when I actually got to the hospital. I only had to wait 5 months from my initial blood test to being prescribed clomid. Some hospitals near to me you have to wait 8 months before you even get your initial consultation.
I agree with everyone else when they say fib a little, but do bear in mind that the pill does mess us up a bit, and your body might right itself over the next couple of months. Also, it takes a few months for the cbfm to get used to your cycle, so I would log in a diary your cycle days and the cbfm readings - I did that cos I couldn't work out how to go back over the info from previous months.
Good luck. Every time I get a BFN I'm a step closer to my BFP. It's only a matter of time. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hello loopylew,
I'm so sorry you are feeling so down. This TTCing is doing my head in too. At least you have lots of support here, and you can vent off whenever you like! Keep nagging your doctor, if you feel something is wrong - you ARE probably right.
I hope the next few weeks bring you positive news xxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you for your fantastic advice/support. I'm inspired that others who were on the pill took a while to regulate their cycles, fingers crossed that is what is wrong. Im gonna do one more cycle charting using cbfm next month then ill go back, my dr is away till end of March anyway, i could see a different one like you said, see how patient i am, lol. Wish i'd never gone on the bloody pill!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hope you are okay.
There seems to be a split this week. Millions of BFPs and millions of people really depressed that they did not get one.
I see a pattern, there.
We can only hope that we are next <3333 | | | | Status: Offline
