anyone had progesterone bloodtest near end of cycle to check if level have dropped?

Hello girlies...I really hope you can help me as I just cant stop thinking about my spotting that I get before my period fully arrives.

It lasts for 2/3 days but last mth was 4 days!! Only when I wipe, not in underwear. Ive had the day 21 & 3 bloodtests done in january & august of this year which both showed good levels of progesterone.....also as this is my first cycle of clomid I have had follicular scanning which showed i def have ovulated this mth. I know I should be happy but Im sure my levels of progesterone are dropping too quickly which is causing the spotting. Has anyone had a bloodtest after the day 21 one to see if the levels dropped too quickly? Im worried the levels are dropping too quickly & not allowing an embryo to implant in time? From the time I get my lh surge to the spotting it is about 13/14 days....so i spose from the point of ovulation its about 9/10 days...but I worry as I always get bad lower backache from about 5-7 dpo which to me indicates Im going to come on in about a week....surely if Im having this back ache so early on its not allowing time to implant?? Ive spoken to my doc & fs about this & they dont seem concerned...we have been ttc for 16 mths now & I never had this bad back ache or spotting when I conceived my daughter 4 years ago. I even thinking of paying privately & seeing a specialist clinic just so I can get this spotting sorted out. Everywhere I read they say spotting is down to progesterone levels!! xx

that's strange... 4 days spotting is really quite long.
I know that there have been chats about it but I'm sorry I can't remember what the general consensus was - I do know that its not normal though....

I think you might be right though - back ache so soon - its like your bodys pressing 'eject' waaay too soon xxxx

Hiya

My progesterone levels are fine a few days after ov but I have a really short luteal phase. I do ovulate (I have had my cycle tracked with ultrasound). The fs said to me that there are conditions when prog levels drop too soon even if they are ok for a few days after ov. He gave me progesterone supplements and this has really helped lengthen my luteal phase. They are now looking to see why this is happening to me.

Hope that helps. A 10 day luteal phase is supposed to be fine and you are prob fine - but I would push for more investigations just in case if I were you. They tried to fob me off for ages but because I have been pushy they are now taking me seriously xxxxxxxxx

thank you so much for your replys....im hoping the clomid will do something to stop the spotting this mth, i think if the spotting does come still b4 af i will phone my fs straight away b4 i start the 2nd cycle of clomid....dont want to go through 3 cycles of clomid for it to be waste of time. Silarose28....how many days is & was ur leutal phase? I spoke to my doc about it too as i was so concerned & he just said that progesterone pills are usually given to woman that have had recurrent m/c's ....i felt like saying but that cant be the case coz on b& b lots of woman take them for spotting & short leutal phases!!!! every time i say to my doc or fs about reading on b&b they just say that i shouldnt but i feel like im not getting anywhere with them its really getting me down x

definitely try vitB complex. I used to start spotting at 10-11dpo with AF coming 2-3 days later. I started taking vitB100, and 5 months later, my luteal phase is 15 days with no spotting at all. I'm really surprised how a vitamin can make such a difference. Not that it gave me a bfp (I actually got it with the spotting), but at least I know it is not because of low progesterone.

Hiya Dancing Katy
My luteal phase was only 6 days. I had tried b6 and agnus castus and it went up to 8 days (sometimes but not always). With progesterone is has been 13 and 11 days. Doctors don't seem to agree on the use of progesterone. I have talked to lots of people on here about it and everyone gets told different things. All I can say is that my docor needed pushing to talk about this with me. When I went private with him he suddenly seemed to listen more and agreed with me that 6-8 days was not long enough for implantation and so he then prescribed the progesterone. Other ladies have told me their doctors prescribe it as a matter of routine whereas some doctors refuse to prescribe it at all.

b6 can really help and does so by helping your body produce the right amount of hormones. I copied this from 1 helpful website:

A recent study by the American Journal of Epidemiology followed 364 women in China and their levels of Vitamin B6 over a twelve month period. Those women with high levels of the vitamin increased both their odds of falling pregnant as well as decreasing their risk of pregnancy loss. The women who were Vitamin B6 deficient had more trouble conceiving and an increased risk of loss.

A deficiency can lead to a buildup of estrogen in your system causing decreased progesterone production. A proper balance of estrogen and progesterone is essential for conception to occur. Too low a level of progesterone can lead to miscarriage and luteal phase defects (where the time from ovulation to menstruation is shorter than 10 days).

B6 effectively reduces blood estrogen and increases progesterone in the body making you much more conducive to getting pregnant.

Oh and chlomid is supposed to support the luteal phase too so hopefully that will help you this month. Whatever you do don't take agnus castus with chlomid as they work against each other xxxxxx

Hi Dancingkat -im with you 100% on this. I have been spotting for 4/5 days before AF for as long as I can remember - maybe 10 years at least. I get backache really bad too on the lead up to AF and then once the proper blood shows up I have a day or 2 of pretty heavy and painful period - followed by another 3 days of spotting.

I would love to get the spotting sorted out - as ive been trying for 23 months and still nothing. I think it has to be one of the main reasons Im not getting my BFP. None of my friends have spotting (or if they do it last for a day max then the get proper AF). My spotting usually starts on 9DPO or 10DPO sometimes - so iot has to be a drop in progesterone doesnt it? It makes sense - but why are th doctors fobbing it off as nothing.

I started B100 complex last cycle and it didnt help at all (had 6 days spotting) but im gonna keep taking them for another few months as it prob takes a while to get the bvits balanced. I really hope it leads to a BFP.

Anyway I will be keep track of what happens at your appointment to see if they can shed any light on the whole spotting situation.
