A 20 day cycle sounds very short. You should talk to your OB/GYN and get some advice on whether it'd be appropriate to check things out and make sure all your hormone levels are where they need to be.

good luck! try not to stress, we live in a world where a lot can be done to maximize fertility!

i know for me it took my body a long time to get back to normal after the hormones in BC- and i have heard the depo shot takes longer to get a regular period- 1 year sounds like a long time so definitely see the doc about it- but even on a 20 day cycle you should be ovulating- test for ovulation and make sure to bd then

I know lots of people that had a really hard time coming, I have heard it could take upto a year for your cycles to regulate. since you have already given it a year I agree talk to your doc maybe they will be able to help.

I hope things straiten up for you very soon, I think they should issue a huge warning about depo as it takes so long for your system to return to normal.

Hi,

I just wanted to say i'm TTC number 2 and having no luck this time round but just to give you some hope....

I was on depo for 3 years (loved it it was perfect) and up to 18 months later cyle was between 21 and 23 days, we were perhaps a little sloppy with protection at times but nothing major when suddenly we had a little surprise! my surprise is now 3 and half!!!! I didn't even want to test I just thought my cycle was normal now and 28 days again - nearly fell off toilet when saw a huge blue cross staring at me, I was doing it on my own so I could throw it at husband who made me do it and demand he pay me the £10 it cost lol.

so the moral of the story is.... 21 day cycles are not impossible to concieve on (though why i'm back to normal cycle whise and can't concieve now is clearly another story

Jo x

Hey Janey,

Theres a few of us with stories of the depo shot over in TTC Buddies. I have just had my first period since coming off my one n only shot in August!!! So happy to see a period!! My docs are going to do tests to see if depo is out my system in Jan which would be the 6month mark.
I would ask for a second opinion with your doc. If they wont do it go elsewhere. Your entitled to know what your body is doing, esp after depo!

Come join us in buddies

xxxxxx
