When i first came off the pill (19 months ago) for about 12 months mine always hurt as soon as I had ovualted for about 7 days till day 21 when they would stop. (For some reason though for the last 7 months mine have not hurt at all).

Not sure if this helps you - but whilst they were hurting I always took it as a sign that I had ovulated - as the pain always started a couple of days after I got positive OPK's. (so now they arent hurting I am starting to panic a bit - although still getting positive OPK's - so maybe just my hormones settling down after being on pill for so long??!!).

I am not sure if this is right or not - but I read that the pain was caused by an increase in progesterone - which should happen post ovulation and should continue to increase till day 21 - when if there isnt a fertilised egg it starts to decrease (please correct me if I am wrong) - which would match up with pain from ovulation.
So i always took it as a good sign that my body was working properly.

xxx

Mine always hurt when ovulating. Then they tend to feel a little better for a few days and begin to get sore again leading up to AF. The month I got my BFP though they didn't get sore again before AF.

I always get sore boobs from the day after ovulation right through to the day af turns up. They can be really tender and quite painful when touched so i spend 2 weeks hoping nobody bangs into me and bite their head off if they do!!

I must be tired as when I read the heading on this post I saw ...

biteable boobs

Anyway, in answer to your question, yes mine were tender for the last 2 cycles for about 3 days before and during ovulation. They also sometimes get tender before AF shows up.
