Can sperm get through....

Ok ladies...weird question...
Y'know how, apparently, when you're very fertile, your cervix rises up and softens and opens up? My question is, can sperm get through your cervix before it rises and opens?

Hubby and I hadn't BDed in a week, but then on CD 12 we did. We also BDed on CD 13. Both days cervix felt medium-high and kinda firm, like the tip of my nose. Today, on CD14, my cervix has risen high and softened a bit. I don't know if it's totally soft, but it's softer than before for sure. My question is...if I were to ovulate this afternoon, do you think there'd be any sperm waiting for the egg? Or do you think that none of the sperm would've made it through my firmer, lower cervix the last two days?

I'm concerned about "over doing it". Since hubby and I have BDed the last two nights in a row, we had planned to abstain tonight and then go again on Saturday. But now that my cervix has risen, I'm wondering...should we tonight? Or do we wait until Saturday? If I knew that spern could get through my cervix on CD 12 and CD13, then I'd feel ok waiting....

Any advice??

Well there is usually a fairly thick and infertile mucus around your cervix during the rest of the time which makes it very difficult for the swimmers but not impossible. A small number must still get through but not nearly as many as when you're fertile. Obviously the closer you are to becoming fertile, the more will be able to make it through as the conditions improve for them. I would have thought a day or 2 before you were fertile plenty would make it.

Thats a difficult one. I dont know what the technical answer is but I'd say they must be able to or why are we told its important to BD the two days before you O?? I'd say they can.
