First you definitely do not need to lie on your back for an hour or 2 after, 2 minutes is fine.
second, when men ejaculate thousands of sperm are released and not all are stong enough to swim.
what falls out of you is 2 things, non-viable sperm that are just not strong enough to swim, as well as the coating that surrounds the sperm to help them get to your cervix properly.
you are not losing good sperm with what comes back out of you

I like to use my Instead cups for this. I lay on my back, legs up for half an hour, then insert one while still in that position, right before I get up. Supposedly it also has been shown to help with women getting pregnant by holding the swimmers up near the cervix. I haven't had success with that just yet, but it certainly can't hurt. And it helps with the mess.
