| Ultimatum....baby or career 8 days until Ovulation........DH and I decided last week that if I don't get pregnant this time, we will no longer be TTC. I can't keep stressing myself like this because it is having a HUGE impact on my life. I said that if I get a BFN this month, I will throw away my thermometer and my charts. If I get pregnant after we quit trying I would be ecstatic! But I feel like I live my life 2 weeks at a time. Its been over a year and I can't seem to stay pregnant for more than 12 weeks. Well I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that my job at animal control could be the cause because I am always moving around and chasing dogs, messing with chemicals and even animal hormones. DH wants me to quit my job but then I would go stir crazy in the house all day. So I have to think about what I want more....my career....or a baby...
I LOVE my job. I get to educate people about dogs and other animals. I get to be with dogs all day and help save their lives. But I want a baby SOOOO bad and I feel like if we quit TTC , all this would have been for nothing. I know that if I quit my job then get pregnant, they would be happy to give me my job back when I'm ready. But what if they hire someone else and don't have a position for me? I'm more than qualified to work for a different Animal control in another parish but that would be an hour drive everyday when I drive less than half a mile to work now. | | | | Status: Offline

| Oh I'm sorry; what a difficult decision for you. We've been ttc #2 for a year now (cycle 13) and I find it awfully stressful after ovulation every month. FX that you get a BFP this month and it sticks

| Hi there, it's a hard decision isn't it?
I've got 2 businesses and was worried about what would happen to them if I had to take time off if I (hopefully) got pregnant.
I decided that I wanted a family more; when I'm an old lady and retired at least I'll (again hopefully) have children and grandchildren to keep me amused!!!
Sounds like a great job you've got thought, I'd love to work with animals.
Good luck with whatever happens!!!! | | | | Status: Offline

| Maybe you can find a way of having both. You say what you love about your job and from reading it, i can see its the dogs. Maybe you could find something else involving dogs that would maybe not affect ttc. If that isn't possible then i guess you do have a choice. I know what i would do. But it's up to you. I can't imagine how you feel. A job you can do any age, a baby gets harder to have as you age. Theres a saying, never regret the things you do because you spend the most of your life regretting the things you don't. Maybe that applies here. Good luck hun. I wish you all the best. | | | | Status: Offline

| Erm... I HIGHLY doubt that your job is why you are having trouble. I was a zookeeper for years and LOADS of ladies got pg and successfully had the babies. As a zookeeper, the job is at least as physical as your job and the exposure to a variety of animal hormones, diseases, parasites, etc. is even greater than your job.
There is probably a different underlying reason for why you are having trouble. Can you get a second opinion?
Good luck! I hope you get your very very soon! | | | | Status: Offline

| I agree with Tigerlady - I see plenty of lady vets get pregnant and have children. Did you tell your doctor what hormones you had to work with or is this just a random guess on his part - Obviously you are not having problems conceiving in the beginning, have you had any tests done to see why your not getting beyond 12 weeks?. I do know where you're coming from with the living your life 2 weeks at a time - I do the same and it's not good. Though I suspect I am a lot older than you and I really wish I hadn't put my career first now, much as I love it. Good luck, hun | | | | Status: Offline

It seems that you really want both and if you can find a solution to both then its the best option. I guess you just need to prioritize somehow like listing all the pro's and con's of leaving work/not leaving work.
best of luck and baby dust for this month

| Yeah Im wondering too what chemicals and hormones that you are being exposed to are messing with your hormones, and if they are surley there is a better way of handling them? You shouldnt be exposed to anything thats detrimental to your health in the first place, even if your not ttc. As for the chasing and the lifting if your used to it its not going to make any difference at all, I chase cows and lift calves and it hasnt done me any harm. I can understand how you feel that it has taken over your life, it is a constant 2 ww no matter what stage of the game your at. I would go get a second opinion too, like some of the other ladies have said, if mc is a recurring problem, there is most likley to be some other underlying cause and it may have a very simple solution! Good luck with your decision hun, I dont evny you at all! | | | | Status: Offline

| chiming in with the previous posts. I have a hard time believing your job is the problem - unless your job is super stressful (which it doesn't sound like the case.) If your job is keeping you happy, that's very important for baby making.
I think most of us can relate to the frustration of your situation though. It's hard to keep waiting and not knowing if it is going to happen. Are you planning on seeing a RE or other fertility specialist? That might help you make a decision and if there is something going on with your hormones, they can help correct that.

| I have an appointment on December 11th with a different doctor. I do have anxiety issues and I'm sure that could be a reason. But I find that my job is actually calming and relieves stress. when I get to work and see all the horses lined up waiting for me to open the gate, I can't help but smile. I LOVE my job. Josh thinks this doctor is full of s**t. I told him that you guys also think it's b.s. He laughed and said "at least your computer friends are smarter than the ones here" My friend, Danielle, called last night to tell me that eating spicy food can lower a guy's sperm count.......wtf?......lol | | | | Status: Offline
