I didn't know that your GP could give you this without sending you to the infertility clinic. My GP didn't even offer this as an option. Since being told i have a two year waiting list for the clinic, I would be very interested in hearing people who go this in the uk, how they were to take it and how it worked??
GPs can prescribe clomid but only with the go ahead from a fertility clinic.
I got the forms and stuff by mistake so found out how it worked to get clomid.
They give you a prescription form which you give to your GP who then prescribes you clomid to the dose that the fertility place reccomend.
Im in Glasgow aswell so itll probably be the same.
Where is it youre being referred to? I had to wait 9months to get a referral to the ACU at the Royal Infirmary.
I got it from my GP as well and was referred to the fertility clinic at the same time. Would have finished all 6 months of clomid before going to the clinic, except that with waiting list targets in Northern Ireland, ended up getting my appointment much sooner than expected (it is next week and started clomid last month)
I am currently TTC, and am using Chlomid to help. I got it prescribed by my OBGYN. He was the one who told me to try it before even going to a fertility clinic. So this is my first month really trying it. Im in my 2WW now. But my Doc told me that it helps the OV process. It also increases the chance of twins by 5%. So hopefully it works, but im definetely not hoping for twins! Good luck TTC!
my doc told me he could only prescribe it with the go ahead from the fertility clinic as they like to do all the other tests first such as internal scan and check ur tubes etc
My GP said he would be happy to prescribe me Clomid if I wasn't OVing.
He said I wouldn't need a fertility appt. Blood's came back ok so didn't need it.

Have gone to consultant who has taken me off clomid to find out what is cause of not ovulating. A bit frustrated as set me back, but at least will hopefully find out why this is happening (or not actually!). Feel like getting different message from GP and consultant.
