Folic Acid

Hi all! I went to the docs today and told her I'm TTC again after m/c in December. I got my Folic Acid, I'm so happy. I know this is not such a big deal for some but it is for me as before when I was TTC I never used it. This time round I am as the nurse at the hospital who confirmed my m/c said I should go on it. I have bd'ed this month and AF is due tomorrow so who knows what could happen. If not then I've got my Folic acid for next month to increase my chances of conception. Does any one know what Folic acid does? I know it helps prevent birth defects but does it do anything else? Just wondered. I'm having such a good day. This time round I'm trying much harder. Stopped smoking 4 months ago, will be drinking very rarely, drinking water and now I have my Folic Acid. Makes it all offical! When should I start taking it when AF arrives?

Start taking it now

Not sure what else it does other than help prevent birth defects like spina bifida, but its an important thing to take

You should take folic acid right throughout trying to concieve as it does help with this as it is an important part of a healthy diet. Don't forget also that you could be already 2 weeks pregnant by the time AF arrives and your bean is already doing alot of work!

Good luck!
