hey girls, I was wondering if anyone could help me, I am a bit confused. I was just reading about a girl who got her BFP at 13 DPO, and her ticker showed that she was 4 weeks. Can anyone explain to me how this works, if I am reading it right, the DPO means days past ovulation? Would this mean that you get your period themonth before and then miss it, or is this the second month that it is missed. Also, is CD 1 counted as the first day of red flow? I am so confused, cycles are still messing me about. Sorry for the stupid questions, any help appreciated. Thanks Candice xx

As far as I'm aware, it's assumed that when you get your BFP, it's approx 4 weeks since last AF, and so it's counted from then. It could be that you get a BFP only about 10dpo so in theory you're only 10 days pregnant, but as your due date is calculated from your last AF as no one really knows for sure when you O'd far as doctors are concerned, you're more!

CD1 is the first day of AF flow, and this day can also be considered day 1 of pregnancy (note you aren't pregnant yet, but it is a starting point of the process). If you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle (this is going off an average 28 day cycle), and get a BFP 13DPO...add the days up and it's roughly 4 weeks.

In the end, it is all a rough estimate, even your due date is a 'rough estimate' depending on your cycle and the growth of your baby as determined by your doctor. I don't think anyone could truly pinpoint the exact time an egg is fertilized.

Your EDD is based on the 1st day of your last menstrual period. So, I think the chart figures it out by the first day of the cycle in general. As for cycle day 1, it is the first day of AF flow as mentioned above.
