I'm Currently Feeling: | A question for CBFM users/experts Today was my first day using the CBFM and although I read the manual 3 times and have read all the posts on B&B about it, I still managed to be very unsure this morning
Well, call me slow, but ... after I dip the stick in a cup for 15 seconds, shall I then keep it in that position (the filter down), put the cap on the lower end and wait for the line to come upwards in the window thingy and THEN put it in the monitor?
Lol ... can somebody please describe the process in details for me. I really don't wanna mess it up |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't lie mine down until the line appears. I just put it straight into the monitor as soon as I'm finished peeing. Good luck | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hiya,
firstly, dont feel like its just you, when i first got it, most if the time i read and re-read the instruction booklet and just went- eh??
main thing is for the tip to be soaked at the end so when it is, you insert it. i credit it with getting me preggers first time (altho lost it subsequently ) But i think its invaluable.
I always had quite regular cycles, pain when ovulating, watched my CM but that little monitor told me i was gonna ovulate 3 days earlier that the dates indicated- had sex the day b4 and hey presto-preggers!!
I just had a d&c yesterday bt was told i can try right away.. which we will .. obviously wont be able to use the monitor this month but as soon as have period i will!!
best of luck! And please feel free to ask any questions of me if you have any.. feel a bit of an expert now that ive used it for donkeys, lol | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks Omi, you're talking about the line appearing in the window and then in the tiny circular window before you put it in the monitor, right?
I always hold it with the filter thingy down until I see the tiny window soaked and then put it in. |

I always hold it with the filter thingy down until I see the tiny window soaked and then put it in. | Hi there,
Just read this and have to reply. Whatever you do don't do the above. That's the mistake I made last month and got 19 HIGH readings with no PEAK in a row. I phoned the Clearblue help line and the expert-on-line asked me loads of questions to try to find out why I would not have got a PEAK reading. When she heard I was holding the stick upside down to allow the liquid to saturate the stick BEFORE placing it in the monitor, she said "AHA! THAT'S THE PROBLEM FOR SURE". Apparently, you should hold the test stick in your FMU (if you decant it ... which I do) for EXACTLY 15 seconds. Then place the cap over the end and either lie it down flat or place it directly into the monitor. The handle of the stick has something inside that 'reads' the urine sample. You don't have to wait for the line to appear at all, which is what I thought.
If you do have any doubts, there is a help line phone number on the website for the Clearblue Fertility Monitor. That's where I got the number. |

| Oh you're welcome. This previous cycle was only my second using it and I was convinced I was doing everything right. I got fantastic readings for my first cycle and only used 10 sticks with a lovely fat PEAK in the middle. Needless to say I couldn't understand what was going wrong in this cycle as every single day showing HIGH readings was soul destroying. I didn't change anything about the way I was using it, it just goes to show that it can be quite sensitive to the way it was used, so the more accurately you follow the directions, the less chance of error. I would strongly recommend the help line, the woman was so caring and quite the investigator when it came to her questions. |
