Any advice or anyone in a similar situation?

hi everyone,

This is my first time posting and I'll try not to go on!

Ok I'm 27, my husband is 30. We started trying to conceive in July so it's been 4 months now. I had been on microgynon 30 contraceptive pill for 10 years previously but came off this in January in preparation for ttc. I know 4 months really isn't very long to have been trying though. I did visit my doctor to get a check up and also had bloods done on cd4 and cd21, I was told that these all came back normal. I'm not really sure what normal means though. A friend told me it would have been checking that ovulation occurred. But what worries me is that I have very irregular cycles, always have done while not on the pill. Since ttc I've had a 22 day cycle, a 39 day cycle, a 45 day cycle and I'm currently on day 34. I thought a cd21 blood test would only be of any use if I had a regular 28 day cycle?
Anyway, we've been bd'ing every other day to 'cover all bases' as I don't know how long each cycle is going to be and therefore don't know when I ov. I never really notice any signs of af other than cramps the day before I come on, only thing I can say at the mo is I have tender breasts, like they hurt when I have to go downstairs. Prob nothing. I don't really want to get into temping etc just yet as I'm worried I'll get too stressed out and end up having the opposite effect of what I want. We might get a clearblue fertility monitor for my next cycle as I'm hoping that might help with the whole pinpointing ov thing!

I just wondered if there's anyone in a similar situation and if so if you've got any advice? Is there anything worth trying to perhaps regulate cycles more. When we do bd I stay in bed with my legs raised for at least 30 minutes. I know some say this isn't neccessary but you never know!

I'd love to hear from anyone and hear your stories.

Good luck with your BFP's everyone!

welcome to bnb, there are lots of ladies on here in similar situations to yours.
You may want to try using ovulation tests first rather than the clearnlue monitor as it only works on cycles up to 35 days i think.
A lot of ladies use angus castus or vitamin b to help regulate your cycles.
good luck and i hope you get your bfp soon xx

Welcome to B&B. You should start temping - and pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your fertility by T Weschler. You don't need to worry about regulating your cycles - all that matters is knowing when you ovulate and the book will show you how to monitor it.

Welcome,

I second the suggestion to start charting and also the book (Taking charge of your fertility) has been helpful to me. I thought that taking my temperature everyday would be stressful but I have found that it has helped me understand my cycle more. I even look forward to the next morning to take my temperature! I feel less stressed because I know that I am ovulating and how long my luteal phase is. I also use OPKs. Maybe you can try it for a month and see? Good Luck!
