Has anyone had any side effects while taking folic acid? I started taking it this month just a cheap chemist own brand and I've had the most bizarre side effects.

Dizzy spells, hot flashes, feeling sick, restless arms when I went to sleep and also jumping in my sleep which has never happened and right after I took the folic acid i went to bed and it was sooo bizarre!

I have stopped taken it and I seem to be back to normal? It is so infuriating as I know I need it as if and when I get pregnant (might even be preggers) it is so important.

Why not try a pregnancy multi vit. Its important to try to start it before you conceive. XXX

I've started having hot flushes and cramp in my hands but i hadn't thought that it was the folic acid but now you mention it thats the only newish thing i'm having! I've just started taking the mother to be sanatogen multi vit so i will let you know if they make a difference!! How bizarre! xxxx

i have read up on folic acid because i always wondered what side effects it could have and apparently it doesnt have any side effects at all.

we get a certain amount of folic acid without taking the supplements anyway i think x

As far as I know it doesn't have any side effects. I take 5mg a day (12 times the dose in a normal tablet) and I don't have any side effects

I am taking pregnacare with omega and the only side effect i am having is bright yellow pee!!!

how much were you taking? i have heard many ladies on here say to take 5mg, but both my pg multivitamin and my cheapy folic acid tabs are each 1mg... until i hear it from a dr or nurse, i am just taking 2mg just in case.

have you tried eating more spinach or greens to get folate from your food? that's what the folic acid is called when it comes from food.

Folic food! I am trying to eat more lettice and cornflakes! lol obsessed with them!

its 400mcg and apparently you can't take to much as the body will just get rid of the excess in your pee!

I googled too and couldn't find any side effects listed any where it's just so strange as this is my first month trying to concieve and I've had all these weird symptons!

I couldn't sleep for two nights with this restless arm thing and even in work it was so bizarre. I googled it and it lead to iron deficency. The jumping is also to do with restless arm syndrome again Iron!

I've been feeling sick since I started taken them this month and when I come off them all the symptons stop! bizarre I'm gonna take one now and see if any of it comes back tonight then I will know. I will also buy pregnacare as maybe these cheap ones are just crap.

My goodness, i've been taking the tablets daily for a year now and have never had any side affects. I would talk to your doctor.
