Temping Question ........

Hi

I've just started tempting but I have been looking at all the different charts on ff and have realised that my starting temperature seems really high at 98.70 and is still rising but I don't think I'm anywhere near ovulation just yet.

The majority of tempting charts are around 97 then rise to above 98 when they have ovulated.

What does this mean? is this still normal?

Thanx everyone

Everybody is different, so I wouldnt worry about what your temp is compared to others. I'm around 97.1 then only go up to about 97.6 after O...then a slow rise to 98.0 for a few days. So, I dont get a huge spike in my temps after O. and if you look at charts, a lot of women get a huge spike, but not me.

You can look up ff charts and filter it by high pre-O temps. You'll see there are quite of few woman who are like this.

Hope this helps ease your mind.

Are you temping first thing when you wake up before you even move from the bed? And are you doing it every day at the same time?

I'd say go along with what banana told you then. Don't think there is anything wrong with you!

Actually, high pre-ovulatory temps can be a sign of hyperthyroidism.

Taken from: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/bbt/bbtfaq.html

Q: My BBTs are lower/higher than average, what does this mean?

A: Either case warrants checking your thyroid. Low BBTs are often a sign of hypothyroid which can cause some fertility and pregnancy problems. Excessively high temperatures may indicate hyperthyroid.
I agree that temps can be normal and pretty much all over the place, but if you haven't ovulated yet this cycle (which is unclear from you chart), then they actually are higher than expected pre-ovulation... as they are actually higher than normal temperature when up and about. The other answer might be that you have already ovulated this cycle... or you could have an illness that's causing a fever.

In any case, I don't think you'll know anything of real value until you can start on CD1. Good luck!
