Herbal Headache Remedies

Hi Ladies

A bit of a random one I know.. BUT does anyone know of any herbal remedies fro things like headaches and colds.

We are TTC and I don’t want to take any Pharmaceutical tablets during my 2WW, just in case.

Reason being I was born with quite a bad heart problem and its not hereditary; the Doctors put it down to my mum having Flu in her first 3 weeks of pregnancy and taking over the counter medications. (She didn’t know she was pregnant)

So I’m just wondering if any of you out there use anything which may help put my mind at ease if I ever get ill or get a headache during my 2WW?

Thanks

i'm on my second cold in a month, so i've been to the dr and tried some stuff for natural cold remedies i can share:

-drink lots and lots of water
-eat oranges or citrus each day
-use those saline nose spray things they sell in the drug mart - helps clear mucous
-inhale steam from a pot of boiling/very hot water (put a towel over your head to catch the steam) helps with coughs and stuffed noses
-gargle with salt water for a sore throat

it ain't sinutab, but did help me and were all suggested by my doctor. good luck! no idea on headache remedies yet, but would love to hear some!!

Feverfew is meant to be good for migraines, never works for me, but it prevents and treats them.

Just bought a grow your own drugs book.. (good herbal drugs, not naughty ones so no need to worry) Will let you know if there is anything good!

You have to watch using herbs and the such too when you are pregnant, especially essential oils. Something as innocent as rosemary can induce labour. I found this out with my second pregnancy many moons ago when my first girl gave me head lice! I didnt want to use any of the chemical cures because I was pregnant so looked for the safe herbal ones only to find a few could actucally bring on labour! Good to know if your overdue and you want the poppit out but not so good if its too early!

Home Remedies for headache.

Try these home remedy for headache:

* Mix a quarter teaspoon of clove powder in one teaspoon of cinnamon oil. Apply mixture to the location of pain.
* Take a few drops of ghee (clarified butter) on your palm. Mix 3 or 4 pieces of saffron in it, and rub it for two minutes. The saffron does not dissolve in the ghee, but its qualities are absorbed. Remove saffron and put two drops of this ghee in each nostril. · Dosage: Follow procedure twice a day.
* Mix 1 tablespoon of milk and half teaspoon of ginger powder and put one or Dosage; two drops in each nostril twice a day.
* Cut a lime in half, rub on forehead.
* In case of headaches caused by sun radiations, flowers of henna are found effective. Rub the henna flowers in vinegar and apply it all over your head. This home remedy will give instant relief.
* For headaches, eat a banana every time the linger headaches appear.
* Do not skip meals, especially for migraine sufferers.
* When headache is caused by cold winds, cinnamon works best in curing headache. Make a paste of cinnamon by mixing in water and apply it all over your forehead.
* Use heat: a warm washcloth or a hot water bottle can ease pain
* Lying down in a dark, silent room may also relieve headaches. This can be combined with massage or pressure application to the bridge of the nose. Also, applying a damp, cool cloth when lying down should help alleviate the pain.

Just what I was about to mention. herbal is not always safest, in fact quite often the side-effects or effects on baby are less known than with normal tested pharmaceuticals. My hubby (pharmacist) always warns to be extra careful with herbal remedies, as they even can have very dangerous interactions with other meds or conditions someone may have.
