I posted a few weeks ago about a problem I was having with my boyfriend not wanting a child at this time. Well... after proving to him that we wont end up homeless if we have a child, thanks to babycenter.com's First Year Costs calculator we've come to a compromise.
I've been knitting baby stuff, in preparation for having a child. I've ordered some yarn to start working on this really sweet lace baby matinee sweater. Once I'm finished knitting it (approx 2 months) we're going to start trying for a baby.
I've ordered some books about pregnancy, and also a few for him, like "the expectant father" so we can both be prepared and know what to expect.
Is there anything I could be doing now to improve chances of conception when we start trying? My diet right now is lacking, so I've started trying to make a fruit smoothie every day so that I can get some fruit into my diet. I also dont drink enough water, I mostly drink diet pepsi, so I'm going to try drinking more water every day.
Does anyone have any tips? I'm 22, my health is good. I dont exercise regularly but I'm not overweight. Should I start exercising? Any lifestyle changes you would recommend in order to improve our chances?
I have an rh negative blood type, which I've read can pose a problem if my bf has an rh positive blood type. My body could reject the pregnancy, so before we start trying, I'll be making an appointment with our doctor so he can get his blood tested. It's a pretty easy fix, I'll just have to get a shot to prevent my body from producing antibodies against the baby. Does anyone have any experience with this? Other than the body possibly rejecting the baby, are there any other complications that could arise?
I want to do everything possible to concieve and give birth to a healthy baby. Any tips would be great! Thanks in advance!
