Ok the HPT test i took friday came up as posative very faint but definately there in the time frame so whats the chances if this being false and also all the other hpt's ive taken (same brand) since show nothing?? Is this a fluke with the first test can it happen or what im so unsure now and begining to doubt myself i cant post a picture as ive got no way of doing it to show you all

I think they say on the packs that it could be a false positive because it could be an evaportaion line. Normally though if there is definatly a line there it is positive and HPT can't get this wrong because there is only 1 thing that could cause the hormones to make the test turn positive.

If the others have been negative, I'd leave it a few more days and test again. It could just be that your HCG just isn't strong enough yet& needs to build up some more and you tested the first time with some stronger urine than the other times so it was more concerntrated.

Sometimes you can get a faint positive and it goes because unfortunatly baby didn't stick & thats really common around the time of AF. Lots of women concieve and don't know about it because it never gets as far as taking a test.

I know it's easy to say and harder to do but try not to let it play on your mind too much. See if you can find plenty to do to distract yourself till you test again.

I think a false positive is almost impossible to get, false negatives are quite common though (when they HCG hormone levels aren't high enough to register on the test). I would wait a couple of days and test again. Good luck!

I'm with the rest on this. Wait a couple of days and take another test... sometimes even the same brand of tests need more or less of the hormone to come up negative. Good luck on a BFP **hugs**

It's very rare to get a false positive - but falso negatives are quite common really early on in pregnancy because of the levels of hormones being low.

The levels of hormones in your pee will be highest first thing in the morning with the first pee of the day - and it becomes weaker the more urine you pass... could this explain your negatives?

Wait a few fays until the hormones would be stronger, and retest - if you can, you should use your first pee of the day for the most accurate result.

I really hope you get good news soon and get that BFP!! What are you doing next? Are you going to try the drs or just wait a few days?
