what does progesterone mean?


I did a post yesterday and a lady put on there about this but i have no idea what its is or what to do about it etc..?? if any1 could help be brill xx

It's a hormone that is released after ovulation. It is pro-gestation, which means that it helps ready the lining of the womb for a fertilised egg.

it's a hormone that is produced when you are pregnant

That's not structly true. You can produce progesterone and not be pregnant, most women do every month.

There are probably tests out there to see if you have enough of it, but a short LP might be an indication of a progesterone deficiency. Do you chart? If you do your LP should be at least 10 days in order to be able to support an implanted egg. If it's consistently less than 10 days you can look to extend it using progesterone supplements.

oh thats the test u were saying to me before lizzie! i know now lol oh i defo got a mad brain 2day! i do chart yes but this is my first month. i'm using the Boots own fertility monitor! xx

Progesterone is what causes the body temperature rise after ovulation. If you get a good temperature rise after you ovulate, that's a good indication that you are producing enough progesterone.
