Sweet potatoes Wild Yam interesting

Ive read it a few times before that sweet potato is good to eat if you want to boost chances of conception but I was googling today for some natural ways to boost my chances and read that it should only be eaten after you have ovulated as native American Indians also used it as a mean of contraception, eating it the days before they ovulated! Makes you think, it also said evening Primrose oil should only be taken from cycle day 6 till ovulation.

Quote:
To Be taker AFTER ovulation
Wild Yam can possibly increase progesterone production. This can increase progesterone production for those with short luteal phases but should only be taken AFTER ovulation. If taken before it can actually prevent ovulation.
You think you would be safe eating a vegetable?! Ive gone back end edited this after a bit of a think, what if these unexplained fertility issues for women who are perfectly healthy with no apparent reason for it are foods that increase progesterone in their bodies and eating it before ovulation is mucking the whole process up altogether?

I think Wild Yams contain phytoestrogens which is why if affects ovulation. I have been taking crushed linseed every day wchich is supposed to have 1000s more times the phytoestrogens...and I have ovulated just fine. Don't know what to think! Aaaargh there are always 50 opinions on everything TTC related.
Good Luck!

Ladies, just thought I'd let you know that there is some confusion about Sweet Potatoes and Wild Yams as they are not the same, although if I remember right, Sweet Potatoes are called Yams in Australia. Let me see if I can find the thread. But you can also google it.

Sweet potatoes and wild yams are not the same thing although they are closely related. I'd have to dig for info on how the relation is.

As for 'nature's clomid' that's actually Soy Isoflavones. SI has helped many women get pregnant, my own personal experience won't be ready till mid December.

Heres my wild yam research so far. I have wild yam pills. Not going to take right now

The more I read up the more conflicting info. I find. Some say it is improves fertility and some say its a natural birth control
Apparently both are believed to be true depending on when in the cycle they are taken and in what dose. Problem is half the sites say for fertility to take only first two weeks-other info says make sure to take only after OV..........so better safe then sorry going to wait for expert opinion.
