Question

Ovulation tests....

I had a miscarriage recently and my doc gave me the ok to start trying again. I have no idea when I'll ovulate this month, if I even do. So, I thought about running to the store and getting the ovulation test kit thingy that you all are always talking about. I wanted to ask yall about them before I went out though. Can you tell me more about them? Is there a certain brand thats better than the others?

I got mine off ebay. Bought something like 200 OPK's and 130 HPT's together for $44.

Thanks I didn't even think to look on ebay... I don't know why! My hubby LIVES on ebay! lol.... I bought the answer ones at the store. I took it and there was a very faint line next to the test line. Does that mean I'm close to ovulating? Sorry I don't know much about the ovulation tests this is the first time i've ever used them.

Sorry I'm a noob at OPK's too I bet it's different for all women, for some the faint line might mean that O is near and then again I know some get faint lines through the whole cycle.

darn I got all excited because I thought it meant I was getting close. I don't know if I should test daily right now though because the box only has 7 tests and if I buy some off ebay it will take at least 5-7 days to get here.

The "result" line is to be the same as the "test" line or darker. If so, it means that you are due to ovulate in the next 24 - 36 hours. I sometimes get a faint line throughout my cycle. This is my first mont of using the cheapies from ebay, but I didn't get a result line of any sort. So long as you use the OPKs in addition to reading the other signs (CM, BBT and position of cervix (although I've not tried that one)), you should be ok. BTW, we've taken to BDing every other day (at least until my temps spike) to make sure we don't miss it. Hope that helps. And good luck!

Jo

Oh, and it shouldn't take more than 7 days to get the ebay ones. And from reading some of the previous posts, some people ovulate really early (almost soon after AF ends), so worth starting the OPKs sooner rather than later.

I get mine from ebay, because sometimes I do two tests a day (around o time) to catch the surge, they are the best for costs. Although not the best quality. Some women (me included) can get a faint line all through the cycle, because most women produce or have some of the LH hormone in the system. It's not the same as a preg test. For a positive the result line (second one) has to be darker or as dark as the first line. With the ebay cheapies you may not get that, but go with the test that has the darkest line for that cycle. I don't ever get a positive test, But I do get a pretty dark line

Good luck
