pcos and metformin...

hi girls, im a newbie here so not really sure where to start,
i got dx with polycystic ovaries in june 2007 and have been ttc with my partener for the last year we have been together nearly 3 years, has anyone got any success stories of falling pregnant while pcos and taking metformin, i'v been takin it for the last 9 months but not managed to lose alot of weight which is the main reason they put me on it?? thanks ladies will enjoy hearing your stories x x laura x x

I have PCOS and am also on Metformin. It's used for a couple reasons....some people are prescribed Met for Insulin Resistance or high blood sugar....but it is commonly given to women who are TTC.

The Met will help regulate your cycle and hopefully up the chances for you to ovulate. I know a lot of women with PCOS who's doctors gave them Metformin specifically for TTC. And many do get pregnant (I know this from another forum that I visit).

It does help some people lose weight...for me personally it hasn't. I haven't gained, but I haven't lose either.

I too am on Met sorry not success stories yet on losses but I just started conistantly taking it a few months ago before it would make me way too sick. Now it is working out much better still have those day when I feel like yuk. I havent noticed any weight loss that I can point directly to met I think some of what I have loss may be due to giving up sodas and tea and drinking a lot more water. Good Luck.
