You said you get emails from FF? Do you have an account there? I'd recommend signing up for your own chart there, you just fill in all the details and daily temps/changes and it produces a graph for you so you can see it first hand.
with the OPK's make sure you test after midday, and not first thing in the morning.
Also you can check your CM and CP (cervical mucus and Cervical position). A good website for information on CM is -

As you approach fertility your Cervical position moves up higher and starts to feel softer (kind of like the texture of the tip of your nose, if you were to press on it) As you approach AF is moves down and becomes firmer.
All these things will become easier to read the more you chart, the first month might seem confusing because it's your first time, but after a few cycles you will begin to know what to look for as you learn more about your body
