fertility clinic rant...ggrr

i feel i just have to let off steam somewhere...does any one have any experience of crap fertility clinics. the clinic i got is the only one that does the procedure me and my husband need...so i feel trapped and scared to complain. i am booked for an iui procedure this cycle (booked it in october), i rang to say i had af and to confirm scans and exact dates etc for next week to have the nurse tell me i wasn't on the list but they would put me down as an extra and they might be able to fit me in with a frozen sample. this is the last in a long line of mis-communications. i feel stressed about it enough, i want it to work cos i don't think i can aford anymore after this one. does anyone know what the difference between fresh and frozen samples is? isn't fresh better? so what are the odds of it working? help

Hiya Angela

I'm sorry to read your having this added stress

Are you having a frozen cycle with frozen sperm or embryos? - In either case, yes, both fresh cycles using sperm or embryos are better in terms of success rates, as there is some degeneration of the sperm/embryos during the thawing process, which is why the success rates are lower for frozen cycles. However it does not mean that a frozen cycle would not work!
- I know of many women who go pregnant using frozen sperm or embryos.

thanks rachieH...they've told me fresh sperm is better but not how much the rate of success goes down for frozen samples (sperm). if this is our last attempt for awhile is it better to wait until they can use fresh samples or go ahead with this cycle? i feel ready but want the best odds...???

Why won't they let you use a fresh sample? I can't believe its down to time constraints....Surely it takes more time to defrost a sample than for your OH to produce it? (2 mins for most men isn't it? lol)...Is it because they need to test the sample and the frozen one is ready to go?

yeh its time constraints in the lab, my OH sperm needs to be treated before the iui...i feel tempted to go ahead because of the mental and emotional preparing that we've done leading up to this...but then i don't want to jepordise the treatment using frozen. i would have to wait till august for another cycle because of work etc
