Yet another thing we have to think about

Well, I went to the Docs today to see if my fibroids would affect me getting pregnant - anyway, I had a thorough examination as I have been getting a bit of pain in my right side so wanted to get the cyst thing ruled out....

My doctor actually believed I was anaemic. and what I didn't know was that anaemia can have a major affect on your fertility and success rate in getting pregnant. Women who have very heavy periods (like mine caused by Fibroids) can sometimes be anaemic from the large loss of blood and apparently it has an affect on ovulation?? Don't know the full ins and outs but I am now having blood tests to look into this.

So, I am feeling a bit more positive but have to wait till the end of month to get my tests done - I'm taking my Folic Acid and multi vits and mins so hopefully that will help, but I may need iron supplements now.

Oh well, lets hope I can still have a good go at it this month and even if I do fall pregnant, the iron supplements can be taken after... right??

Fingers crossed.....

That's interesting you posted that as I just finished reading the Zita West book and she says that anemia can make getting pregnant more difficult. I had no idea. My GP just told me I am borderline anemic and need to take iron supplements but they make me constipated which is NO fun. But now that I know how impt it is, I am taking them everyday anyway.

I never had trouble with my first either, in fact when we said we would try I knew 4 years ago, that I had to do it around ovulation.... Ithink we did it once... ! and hey presto.... However, back then, I didn't have fibroids, my periods were really light and I was 33!!! Now 37, fibroids, heavy periods and perhaps anemia to contend with... Well I'm looking at it as a challenge, just don't wanna have to go through the challenge for TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long!

guerita, try spatone, it's a completely natural and gentle iron supplement. I have trouble with the amount of iron in multi vits which make me consipated!..

My OH told me about the iron thing the other day, I hadnt even put anything connection to low iron and reduced chances of pregnancy. Now he hassles me every day to take it as I am borderline too and dont want to risk anything.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get into your system enought o have the desired positive affect?

Thanks Lindyloo. I'll check it out.
Not sure how long it takes to rectify iron levels, maybe a quick internet search would yield the answer. Let me know!
