Pregnancy after Uterine Perforation

Hi,

I hope this is the right area to post this in. Does anyone know if it is possible to conceive after a uterine perforation. My gyn took out my IUD last year because she said it had punctured my uterine wall. I had been having pain for several months in that area but never thought it was the IUD. So anyway, I lost a baby over the holidays and I've been reading that women who have abortions run the risk of having their uterus punctured which can lead to future difficult pregnancies. Although, I've never had an abortion, my uterus was punctured and I wonder if maybe this is the reason I lost my baby. I'm trying not to wonder and worry, but I can't help it. I'm planning to go to the gyn next week to have my uterus looked at again. I do remember the ultrasound tech asking me though if I had had an abortion before which I thought was odd, but maybe she say the puncture and thought that was why it was there. I don't know. I keep googling conceiving after uterine perforation but I keep coming up with nothing.

Thanks in advance,
Makita

Hi gigglezk, sorry to hear about what has happened. I do not have an answers unfortunately but I hope someone will be able to give you some advice. I have a friend of mine who recently had a D&C after a miscarriage and the Dr Perforated her uterus. I have tried to read up on this and like you said, there is no information on it...I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything. Best of luck, I hope you get some answers soon.

HI hun, when I had my D&C I was warned a small risk of the operation was a perforated uterus but they would be able to tell immediately and put a small stitch where it perforates and it will not affect future pregnancies, it didnt happen but I didnt feel worried by the risk.

Did IUD perforation cause another miscarriage for you?

Hi....I saw your thread and was hoping you could give me some hope on whatever happened with you getting pregnant after IUD perforation. I had the EXACT same scenario as you. Had one successful pregnancy (now 2 years old) then got an IUD which perforated my uterus. Had to have it surgically removed. Got pregnant a couple months later and had a m/C which resulted in my getting a D&C. I haven't been able to get pregnant since and am wondering if these issues is causing infertility or if I do get pregnant if I will likely have a m/c. Any information you could give me would be so much appreciated!
