Do you need a scan before clomid is prescribed?

As above. I have 21 day bloods tomorrow and thought that I might start clomid next cycle, however is a scan nec first?

Just so you don't think youre invisible, I have no idea. Sorry.

Maybe ask in LTTTC? Theyre 'ardcore clomid-heads in there.

I actually meant to put the q in there so I have asked it there too. I think they only scan if you are not ovulating, and I am, so I have decided not to worry about it.....

Hi hun I didnt mean to confuse you with my earlier post

My doc did CD1 bloods then CD21 bloods, he is also doing a scan for possible PCOS etc (I havent been tested for anything else). I presume they are just covering options so as to know how best to treat me.

I think they scan you ONCE you are on Clomid to see if you are ovulating etc. As DM said there are some good posts on LTTTC x

Hi fluffyblue! You didnt confuse me, I confused myself. I vaguely remember reading something about this, I have checked our nhs trust guidelines and they only scan first if you dont ovulate, however I think I do ovulate.

I think I will stop trying to imagine everything thats going to happen and go with the flow! I just feel there might be a bit of progress, and my mind is going bonkers!

I am so sorry!

I hope things go well for you too, it sounds as if they are being very rigourous! Good luck hun and forgive my rantings!

Its ok, I think all testing is similar to begin, im starting testing for recurrent miscarriages but I think they start with all the ovulation stuff etc, I have a short Luteal Phase so I can get pregnant just cant keep hold.

I have managed to get my gynae appointment brought forward to end of month becuase of my recent chemical so fingers crossed for us both.

I to ovulate but late in month CD21 so not sure what he gonna do for me

Good luck xxxx

FX for you, I had a chemical last month and I understand the frustration and upset of this.

I also had ectopic in March. I def ov but it seems to be less than every other month is from the good side. They just want to improve the chances of ov from the good side. I am 33 and oh is 48, so time isnt really on our side....

GP is really proactive so that is filling me with promise, perhaps falsely. I think I getting my hopes up too much.

Either way I have my fx for you. Let me know how you get on. XXXXXX

Clomid didnt work for me the first time but like you now that i only have 1 tube I was thinking of trying it again so I have a better shot of Oing on my good side. I might give it one more month and see if my doc says I can go on it again. I answered in the LTTC section but thought i would put it in here too i didnt have a scan before I got my clomid only after and that is when they discovered my pcos.

Thanks hun, I think for one tubers it gives that extra chance. My gp was quite pragmatic about it..... I am trying not to get too excited. I am wary of multiples too. My oh has twins already, and the prospect of that is quite scary

I would be scared of multiples too but then I think well at least I can get i over with in one shot have my two then done. Maybe that is why it has been such as long hard road so I can get the joy of two.
