Pre-natal vitamins and Vitamin B complex

Hi ladies,
Just a little advice needed (I may sound a bit dumb here sorry!)

I'm taking Pregnacare multi vitamins, the ones that you can take from conception through to breastfeeding. I've seen some of the girls talking about Vitamin B complex tablets being good when TTC.. so I ordered some. I then realised once they arrived, that my Pregnacare tablets already contain all the Vitamin B's. The RDA's are as follows: B6 - 500, Thiamin B1 - 214, Riboflavin B2 125, Biotin 100, Folacin folic acid 200, Pantothenic acid 100, B12 600.

Now my new Vitamin B complex tablets have very large RDA's of all these vitamins, surely I don't need to take these aswell? And if I do, will they make me poorly/cause me damage?!

thanks so much
xx

Are those in mg or mcg? Cuz I take a B6 - 100mg and there is 10mg in my Multi. 500mg of B6 sounds really high to me.....but I could be far off!!

The B6 is 10mg - 500% RDA.

Then on my new tablets the content is the same, so if I took both, then I would be getting 1000% RDA of B6... that seems quite alot! Would that be good for me?
x

Nevermind, I missed where you said the RDAs and I just looked it up online and saw what you meant, lol.

It is only 10mg of B6 and 20mcg of B12. I'm pretty sure you can safely go up to 300mg of B6 but you don't need that much. I started out at the 100mg extra to see what happens for me! I saw someone on here say that you should keep B6 and B12 about equal (100mg of B6 for 100mcg of B12) that's why a complex is the best. I could be wrong here but I think that's what I remember.

Oh and the B vitamins are water soluble too so unless you take some absurd amount, I don't think you have to worry about it cuz the excess will come out in your urine (a mighty fine neon yellow urine at that, lol).

Do you have any LPD problems? Cuz the B6 is said to be good for lengthening that out too! That's why I'm taking it!

That's the day we got married too!!! That's why I picked it!!

LPD is a luteal phase defect. Anything under 10 days (I believe) is considered too short. Mine is 10 days but I start spotting on the 10th day so I don't really believe it's a true 10 days.
