Clomid or Provera? Which to take?!?!

I'm just starting a new thread since I've derailed several now trying to get an answer! Sorry if you've already seen this question. I'll try not to make the dates too confusing!

Friday (8/21) I was put on a month of birth control by my ob/gyn. Instead of explaining why again... it didn't work out. Nothing terrible... just didn't work for me. I took it for 5 days before discontinuing it's use. My last dose was Tues (8/25).

I'd been spotting ever since O, and the birth control was supposed to stop that, amongst other thing... and didn't do that either. This is my 2nd day without the birth control pills, and my bleeding (which was like AF was trying to start but couldn't) has pretty well gone into what I would usually expect to see as my first day of the .

Here's the confusing part... bear with me!

When I went off of the birth control, my ob/gyn prescribed me Provera to bring my withdrawal bleed. Then, I have Clomid to start taking on CD3-7. If I start taking the Provera today, it would stop my current bleeding and start me on a new cycle (even if this is the start of one). If I'm lucky, I *might* be bleeding by 9/3 and Clomid by 9/5, if I go ahead and take the Provera starting today.

However, if there is a chance that this is the official start of my AF, then I could start my Clomid on Saturday (8/29). Obviously, a week ahead is WAY better! I have an appointment with a fertility clinic on Sept 23, and I would love to not need it. This is my last shot before the poking and prodding begins... and it's only my 2nd proper month TTC in 2.5 years. I feel I deserve at least this month to try.

So, the question remains:

1. Take the Provera and set myself back at least a week?
2. Take the Clomid on Saturday and hope that this is CD1 for me?

As a side note, Clomid doesn't HAVE TO be taken on CD3 to work. For people who don't have regular cycles and have had absent AF for a while, they can start taking it any time. So, it won't be rendered useless if I take it on the wrong day. I should technically still make me ovulate on schedule and all.

Please help? I'm desperate... the internet doesn't even seem to want to tell me. My pharmacist won't comment, my GP's office won't comment, and my ob/gyn is closed for the day (besides the fact that I don't really want to ask her since I'm a little miffed with her ATM).

Thanks and in advance! I'll try to stop being such a pain, asap!

FX'd that everyone goes with withdrawal bleed, take Clomid... but I'm not biased or anything!

Are you having a full af flow right now? You should be counting cd1 from the first day you had a real flow.

I would call this real flow... FINALLY! It's been spotting and light bleeding but never a real flow until today... but this started a couple of weeks ago right after O. So, I'm very confused. But, I like your answer, and I think that's about what I'd decided anyway!

Thanks for answering! I saw (I think) that you just changed your September test day to the 23rd because of AF. Sorry she got you, but that makes us complete cycle buddies if today is your CD1, because my test date is also the 23rd now!
