nO Progesterone produced......

I just found out I have not been ovulating...and therefor haven't been producing progesterone...so I've been seeing AF very often because my body has been building estrogen and the lining of my uterus kept thickening (endometrial hyperplasia all thanks to the depo provera shot I had last year.) ....ANYWAYS the doctor put me on a progesterone tablet to try to normalize me. My question is.......

Has anyone else out there had to take progesterone to normalize your ovaries and get them to start working right again...and if so...were you able to get pregnant? and about how long did it take you?

Thanks ladies!!

Hey, my situation isn't exactly the same but I have been having some strange cycles and bleeding for around 3 weeks. I went to the doctor and she said it is because I have recently come off the pill. They prescribed me progesterone to take for 10 days, and then once I stopped them I had a 'normal' period within 3 days. I am now onto my next cycle and waiting to see if I ovulate... not hopeful so far! But the doctor said after that course of progesterone it should make my cycles more normal. So fingers crossed for both of us xx

Yeah, I'm really hoping this helps me. It is so frustrating every month when you begin AF right around the time Ovulation should be taking place.

I hope it works for you!! lots of luck.

I am really hoping this will help.....but I've been doing research and progesterone isn't gonna make me ovulate...it will just replace what my body is missing...now I am wondering if I shouldn't go back and ask for clomid or something to stimulate ovulation....or I wonder if my body will stimulate itself....I really hope this will be enough to help me...
Thank you ladies for your replies!

Hey, lovin_it! I understand... I was bleeding nearly constantly for about 2 years. My estrogen wasn't dropping enough to signal the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. So, I guess I technically had a 700-something day cycle! LOL That has to be a record.

I was given progesterone pills to stop my bleeding and start a new cycle. It was that new cycle when I had my chemical pregnancy in July. So, while it doesn't force ovulation, you may ovulate with the new cycle without force. I obviously ovulated if I had a chemical. After the chemical, my ob/gyn did prescribe Clomid and I ovulated again... this cycle went all funny... but at least I ovulated. I believe the eventual issue with this cycle is that I'm still not producing enough progesterone post-O.

I hope this works out for you quickly. Obviously, I did have to take progesterone to start a new cycle, and I did kind of conceive... just didn't stick! I don't imagine it had anything to do with anything but bad luck though! So, worry not.

BTW, I also had a thickened uterine lining that I shouldn't ought to have had and my ob/gyn said that the progesterone pills and the following bleed would clear that out. I imagine it did, because it was a rather heavy period... so, be prepared... not terrible, but moderately unpleasant.
