constant positive opk? Any ideas

Hi there everyone,

I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience in using opks regularly. I have been using them for a month approx ( Been trying since Nov). I had negatives until about 6th jan and since then I have had at least 5 positives, the last one being today!! These were definite positives, I thought I may have a faulty batch, so I asked my sister ( who finished her period on wed) to pee on one and hers was a definite BFN. Does anyone have any ideas at all? I have finished all my pregnancy tests that were of 20 hcg strength ( allegedly) and all of these were negative. I have no idea whats going on. Can anyone help

When you say positive do you mean two dark lines of the same darkness? Because with OPK's you need both lines to be dark to be a positive, a faint line and a dark line means negative?

If they are definite positives, then I'm not sure honey, it could be a BFP because your LH hormone stays increased if you fall pregnant. I'd test again with a HPK in a few days.

Best of luck

Thanks ney ney, no these are deffo positive, all the lines have been the same, apart from this am which was darker. I have ahd negatives, so I know what to look for. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. I do 'feel' strange though, cant put my finger on it. A friend at wourk had neegative HPTs through her pregnancy, so I suppose it isnt that uncommon.

If you have a very strong LH surge and test right at the start of it you can get a positive test for 3 or sometimes even 4 days in a row. Especially if you test with strong urine. It's because you catch the start and end of the surge.

However if it goes on for too long it has been linked with PCOS so I'd talk to your doctor.

hi suzan, I have no idea how many DPO I am because my cycles are all over the place. I havent had a 'normal' period since I came off bcp in november. Before this I had no periods at all for years. I'm going to the doc tomorrow for other things, so I could ask her then.
