If it is please check for a lump, I had a bartholins abscess once, trust me you dont want to wait around if you have one of those nasty buggers!
I was pregnant when I had one, it got so big I was in A&E and had to have a spinal so they could drain and do a marsupalization.
Even if its small you need to have it checked.
Other than that the only other time my bits have been sore is because I used soap down there when I was young and it made it all roar.

Thats what I had! I waited too long and it ruptered on me. I was in hospital for a week waiting for it to drain. which meant that i didnt need to have surgery.
But the pain was soo bad. i couldnt sit down, it hurt to walk and i could only lie down a certain way. I shouldnt have been so stubborn and gone to the doctors.
