OPK users - question...

Ladies

I wondered if those of you using OPKs could give me your opinion?

I have a 30 day cycle at the moment - only just off BCP so it may change but I have come off it before when TTC #1 and I had regular AF then.
when on or off BCP I have very short, very light AFs - 2/3 days max and light flow.
Do you think the length of AF has an effect on when you O? i.e has anyone using OPKs noticed they O later than 'average' or earlier?

I'm wanting to make sure I BD enough this month obv and I'm just using FF to estimate when I'm due to O.

Any thoughts appreciated.

It's my first month of using them so i'm still not sure when i ovulate as i'm havin some problems with them eg sometimes getting a line and then not. I think those who have used the cb digi ones have a much clearer idea of when then ovulate. If i did ovulate last week then that is earlier in the cycle than i would have thought. I don't think the length of af would make any difference to ovulation.

I haven't seen anything to suggest women with short/light AFs ovulate earlier/later - just wondered if there may be a correlation.
The main thing I have learned about my light, short and pain free AF is that I'm flippin lucky!

Hum..I am not sure on that one. But I think that after your first month of using the OPKs you should be able start understanding your cycle better.

This was my first month using OPKs. There are pros and cons, from what I can see.

Pro: The OPK showed a positive result days before FF and other sites predicted I would ovulate. Without the OPK, I might've missed ovulation altogether.

Con: We were taken by surprise that I ovulated so early...and we immediately put SO SO much pressure on ourselves to BD, that it actually didn't work out for 1.5 days (ugh...so embarassing, but I know this happens to everyone at some point).

Anyway, I think I will continue using them (hopefully I won't have to, though!!) because now we understand how it works and understand that we shouldn't BD the MINUTE we see a positive result, but can definitely wait a few hours if that's what it takes. I think we'll be more relaxed next time we use them.

Thanks for that Capital Chick!

What day did you O on then according to the OPKs? And how long is your cycle? I'm just using the free ovulation calenders and FF to give me an idea when we should be BDing.

I'm not sure darlin. We haven't been using OPK's very long, and to be honest I doubt the reliability of them (we just used the cheapies) as I never really got a positive result from then, well the closest I got was about a week before AF, which threw us off a lot.

Best of luck with it though, I think it's just my whacko body causing us trouble
