progesterone is produced by your body after you've ovulated - it produces the nice thick womb lining that you need in order for a bean to implant. Low progesterone means the womb lining might be too thin and you would have problems conceiving. A common symptom is a short luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your period). Less than 10 days is considered short. You might get spotting for several days before af - that's what happened to me.

In the UK you can't get progesterone supps over the counter, but you can request a progesterone test from your doctor and take it from there.

You can improve your progesterone naturally by taking vitamin B6 (not multi B vits, just B6), and by avoiding alcohol, which depletes your body of lots of vitamins but especially B6.

My progesterone was low after stopping the depo injection, it is slowing increasing now, which is why they think it was more due to the injection, but I have not had any symptoms of it being low. My LP is/was about 12-13 days, I have started Vit B50 in the last 2 weeks, as I figure it cannot do any harm, I got it from holland and barratt...

i have been diagnosed with estrogen dominance, which means i have an extreme amount of estrogen and not enough progesterone to balance it. a result has been infertility. i go to a private hormone specialist, and take natural progesterone hormone.

I was on progesterone supplements during my first pg, then my doc wanted me to continue them when ttc no.2 to try and stop the spotting (I was getting spotting from 5dpo), so I did. I was ttc 17 months for no.2. I wanted the doc to check my levels so I stopped taking progesterone and had cd21 tests. To everyone's surprise they came back normal & I got my bfp about a week later. I still don't really understand it. Sorry - that's not much help to you!
