Questions I should ask a Fertility Specialist?

Hey ladies~
DH and I are fast approaching our "one year ttc" anniversary and I don't like that!
I had planned on making an appointment with my OBGYN to discuss what our options are from that point, but just as I was at a loss with ttc when we first started, I am at a loss of what to ask/ expect when it comes to fertility specialists.
So I ask you my lovley ladies for your help.

Some background info on me/us:
age:28, DH-32
I had a MMC at age 18, followed by a D&C.
We've been NTNP for at least 3 years, and officially trying for almost a year.
I had 2 chemical pg's in october and november '08 and had an EP in Jan 09.
Since then- Nothing, nada, nil, zilch.
My cycles are regular, and I have a good OV pattern with a temp rise to show it.
We have good BD timing
We do not smoke, we eat relitivly healthy, neither of us are overweight, and we keep in good general health.

So ladies, my question to you is- Where do we start??
Should I make an appt to see my OBGYN in October? What do I tell/ask her? Are there any specific tests I should ask for for me? What about DH- Who do we talk to about his fertility? His GP or my OBGYN?

Thanks in advance for your help ladies!

ETA: I have decided to try to make an appointment with my OB for October, and I would like help with figuring out what tests I should ask for when I go.

I'm not sure what questions to ask but I didnt want to read and leave.

I also noticed that you were from South Carolina. I thought I was the only one from SC on here. lol

What part of SC are you from? I was giving a number of a FS in Greenville thats really good. Never saw him myself but has heard many good things about him. PM me if you are near Greenville and want the number.

Sorry to hear that you haven't had great luck in your TTC journey so far. I'm in the same boat as you. Hubby and I have been trying for almost 15 months with two miscarriages to show for it. I had my family doctor refer me to an OB/GYN, but unfortunately I have to wait until December 1 for an appointment. In the meantime, I've been seeing a naturopath who is using natural remedies to sort some things out. I'm finding that helpful so far, as she has reduced the amount of spotting I have each cycle. I'm also starting Bowen therapy (kind of like acupuncture without the pins) with the naturopath on Monday.

I would strongly suggest trying some of the alternative healthcare options while waiting for an appointment with a FS or OB/GYN. Naturopath, acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy, etc, etc are things that others have said have worked well for them.

Also, perhaps try posting this in the LTTTC section as the women there might be even more help.

I hope you get the answers you need and get that sticky soon!

I would recommend that you "lie" and go to the doc right away because like others have said it is often a long wait to get an appt with a fertility specialist.

I went to one and they do a lotttt of blood tests for a wide variety of things. They will also likely do an internal scan and maybe a hsg......to check for fibroids, endometriosis, or tube problems.

Best wishes and hopefully this will be your cycle and you won't need it!

HI I totally agree go asap as its a huge weight or it can be...

dont worry about what to say they will ask all the questions most of what you have said in the above apart from the odd extra details is what they will need to know...

let them do all the digging just give them the answers and they will do the rest.

I have had an eptoipc at 17 and IVF at 23 and have managed to get through it...

take care
sarah
