Diet Pills

Hey ladies.. does anyone know if diet pills - specifically the ones that contain ephedra - can affect your menstrual cycle or cause problems with ttc? I have searched on-line and haven't found anything that says it causes problems.. but just want to make sure. I was taking a supplement called TriMethyLean once a day (10mg ephedra) for a few weeks just recently to help me lose weight and it just hit me that it may have affected my cycle..

Ephedra was actually banned to be sold in certain doses because people were taking too much. But small amounts is "supposed to be" okay. Anyway I did stop taking it, but it just occurred to me that I hadn't considered it as being the reason for my disappearing period... I guess I can ask my ob on Thursday as well. Thanks for the input anyway

THATS A BIG NO NO. I THINK THE QUESTION YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF IS WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR BABY THE DIET PILL? IF THE ANSWER IS NO, THEN DON'T PUT THE CHEMICALS INTO YOUR OWN BODY WHEN TTC.

I WOULD DEFINITELY ASK YOU DOCTOR THOUGH IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING IT. I KNOW THIS PILL IS BANNED IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, SO THAT'S NOT A GOOD SIGN IS IT?

BEST OF LUCK HONEY. IT'S GOOD THAT YOU'RE QUESTIONING WHAT YOU SHOULD AND SHOULDN'T TAKE ... VERY RESPONSIBLE.

Just to clear this up a bit...

Obviously I would not feed my baby a diet pill.. I was not incinuating that I would want to take it while pregnant. What I was saying was that because I WAS taking it for a couple of weeks, I thought that might be the reason for my late period. All I was trying to do was boost my weight loss, which it did work and it worked well. I stopped taking it as soon as we had unprotected sex.

Most diet pills arent really a good idea to take anyways.
Aside for the diet pills, weight change can affect your AF which in turn affects TTC.
