Provera after BCPs - has anyone had any experiences of this?

Hi ladies,

I am suffering from post-pill amenorrhea after stopping taking the pill 4 months ago. I had my usual withdrawel bleed and then one very light bleed that lasted only three days, 26 days after my withdrawel bleed.

I recently went to the doctor (who just happens to be the gyne I didn't know this until I got there) and he prescribed me provera to induce a period. Two days into this period I had to go for blood tests, which I did.

He's now on holiday and I have a 4 week wait for the results. I've booked into his gyne clinic for a scan too, to put my mind at rest and to check things are okay.

He advised me to wait until he returned from his holiday rather than booking in with another doctor. I am going to do this so that I don't get 'fobbed off' with the usual 'come back in a year' line!

I'm now on cycle day 9 and I'm hoping (and praying) that I will now ovulate normally again but I know I'm probably clutching at straws!

I was just wondering if anyone has used provera and if it did actually kick-start things again?

I'm very impatient I know - my husband and I are desperate to conceive our first baby soon!

Many thanks xxx

Hey, i'm new here and posted something. How did the provera end up working for you? My doctor gave me that at the end of Oct and induced period fine for Nov. But then, I have not had my period for Dec and i'm not pregnant!

I actually took the provera and it did not work for me. I got my period on my own 2 weeks after my last pill. I was also prescribed a very low amount (10mg per day for 5 days). I am hoping to either get a BFP or AF around the 23rd-26th. I will keep updated.

I am taking Prometrium...doc gave it to me for 4 cycles to jump start AF and it did not work. I went back on Dec. 31st and doc is going to keep me on it to keep my cycles regular.

This is soooo frustrating!! I just emailed my doctor...I'll see what he says. The more frustrating part is that there really isn't much our OBs can do for us! It's not like they can poke around to make AF come lol

Acupuncture can be very helpful for stimulating/regulating periods. Chinese herbs can help as well.

Yeh, I've been seeing the other ladies post something about Agnus Castus/Vitex...but seems like some of the other ladies didn't have good results with it.

*SIGH* i think i'm just frustrated at this point.

The Chinese herbs are completely different from AC. The make a formula based on your specific conditions, so it id directed at your issue.
