I'm Currently Feeling: | Enough pity for now. I'm going to be thankful! Oprah says that keeping track, on a semi-regaular basis, of the things for which we are thankful, can help us feel good.
I've been feeling pretty crappy since AF arrived on the 23rd, so maybe creating a list of things for which I am grateful will help me focus more of my attention on the great aspects of my life, rather than the this one 'tiny' thing that's missing... (yeah...those quotes are for 'sarcastic' emphasis).
Before we started TTC, I really truly did lie awake sometimes, thinking about HOW lucky I was to have certain things. I sometimes prided myself on the fact that I didn't really take these things for granted, and that I did stop and think every day about how fortunate I was to have them. I have since let this thankfullness slide, and I've spiraled down into a state of self-pity (not that it's wrong of me to do this....TTC and failing truly does suck the BIG one!)
Anyway, here's my list. Feel free to add your own.
* I am grateful that I have a wonderful husband who puts up with me. A man who is so kind and patient that I sometimes have to pinch myself and think "I can't believe he just took that from me. I can't believe that, without yelling at me, he just KNOWS I'm being bitchy because I'm upset about TTC." And funny. My husband is hilarious and, even in this awful TTC journey, makes me laugh...laugh 'til I cry, almost every day. Last weekend we went to buy new shoes, and he mentioned to me that he was going to "try out these new sneakers" he had put on. I wasn't paying much attention until I heard other patrons of the store begin giggling. I looked up to find DH moon-walking, with a totally straight face, around the store, before announcing "I'll take these".
* It's cold outside. SO VERY cold! I am...I AM grateful to have the warmest, snuggliest apartment. We have a gas fireplace and it emanates such warmth. I always think about how fortunate I am to have an apartment and a warm bed, rather than a sleeping bag and a doorway.
*I have a great job. A moderately high profile, fulfilling job, that affords me the most unbelievable opportunities for learning, growth, travel and excitement. I'm involved in very important stuff (as opposed to some menial jobs I've had before), and what I do CAN and DOES make a difference in the world. Thank God.
* We don't struggle for money. We're not swimming in it either, but I am SO wonderfully content. The only things I ever yearn for are stupid frivolities that no one in their right mind even needs. The basics like food, shelter, clothes and even travel to visit family...I've got those things...and more. I am truly blessed.
Those are the things that come to mind immediately. I think I'll add to this list as other things pop into my mind.
And y'know what? This HAS been very cathartic! I DO feel better than I did when I started writing it. I'm thankful for that too! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | And one more thing:
While I sometimes do lament my "long" 31 day cycle, I have to be thankful that it's not 41 or 51 days, as many other women experience. So, I'm thankful that I only have a slightly longer than average cycle. |

I can't believe you're in Israel. I thought that 90% of people on this site were british or something.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Ok, just to get this post back to its original topic, I should say that I'm also thankful for the pesto-laden pasta I just ate for lunch. Yummo! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm in the UK and a HUGE Oprah fan - I believe part of what we are talking about is 'The Secret' - the law of attraction. As Capital Chick says its easy to lose track of how good things really are when other things in life are not going exactly as we'd hope.
People in my town must think I'm mad as I regularly drive around saying THANK YOU out loud for all the things that I'm greatful for.
I am thankful for my wonderful husband, my beautiful daughter whom I am very proud of, my two lovely cocker spaniels Moog and Merv who make me smile and for my fabulous life - I'm blessed already and if I get a BFP it will just be the cherry on the top! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Capital Chick you read my mind! I have been wanting to make my thankful list for the last few days and haven't made the time to actually do it.
After reading your post I think I'm going to start writing tonight. I'm actually motivated to do it. I felt after reading your post how wonderful my fiance is to me and how he puts up with me I have no idea but he does it well.
You started a good thing here with this post. | | | | Status: Offline
