Temping

Since i'm on CD1 today and determined to catch the egg this month i'm thinking about temping.

When do you start to temp? Or do you just temp every day of your cycle?

xx

You temp first thing in the morning *before you get out of bed, and after at least 3 hours of sleep*.

I set my alarm on my bedside table for 7.15am every morning & have my thermometer within reach so I don't have to move for either.

If you're using a digital thermometer it should beep when you're done, if you're using a glass one you need to shake it down before use and keep it in for 5 minutes.

I take mine orally because I want to temp my whole cycle and didn't fancy taking vaginal temps when I was bleeding, but it's up to you which you'd prefer. Just stick to one method.

Do i have to use a digital or glass thermometer? My digital is poor quality but i have some Tempa dots which i got from the hospital, disposable thermometers.

So it has to be first thing? That's one thing i didn't know haha, new to this!

yep, agreed. Some gals take AF week off from temping but I don't. I like to see it on my chart. Did you sign up for FF?

I don't know what tempa dots are but I know they say you want to do it oral or vaginally. If you use something disposable, you'll need a lot of them so you might as well just buy a new basal thermometer. Get one that has two digits after the decimal point. I picked one up on the internet from the same place I bought my OPKs and HPTs.

Tempa dots are strips that the hospital gave me to use when i came out of hospital before i gave birth to my Angel. They're the same thing, just disposable. I won't buy a new thermometer as i'm not that comitted just yet, i have plenty of these disposable strips for now (about 100 )

I've just got me a FF but am a bit daunted that it's only CD1, i'm not a patient person, at all

Yeah, I don't think many of us are very patient!

What you can do though is join in the chart stalkers group and have a look at a million other charts!

They're in the TTC forum somewhere, and of course mine is in my signature is you want!

Temping is a really helpful insight into your body. It's also the only way to confirm if you've ovulated that cycle. Other methods only tell you you're gearing up to ovulate, not if you actually did.

I highly recommend it.

Just a thought but did you know that if you wanted to catch the egg this month, temping won't help you catch the egg. Temping only tells you that you have already ovulated. People usually temp to see where they do ovulate and watch that it does not fall towards the end of the LP.

Its a good thing to start though hun if you are wanting to prepare for further months and need to pin point where you ovulate.

I think i am going to start temping again next month to see when i have ovulated and my partner can get some rest when i see my temp rise.
