delay TTC?????

The government guidance is being re-issued after a woman with the virus died shortly after giving birth.

Meanwhile the National Childbirth Trust has been accused of "scaremongering" for suggesting women delay pregnancy.

The Royal College of General Practitioners told the Observer it was a "disproportionate reaction".

Alan Johnson, the former health secretary, agreed it was an "overreaction" to say women should not have babies at this time.

Concern over the effects of swine flu on new and expectant mothers has heightened since the death of Ruptara Miah, 39, in London's Whipps Cross Hospital on 13 July. Her baby is said to be very ill in intensive care.

i think it is scaremongering - 1 case and we all need to stop TTC. This is awful for those already pregnant as they can not and would not want to reverse. The govt really should stop inflicting fear.

I can see the point and this is something I've given some thought to before reading this article.
However, I've personally been waiting for four years for my husband to be 'ready' to have kids. I am worried that we've left it too late (as I have endo, only one ovary - and that's had some damage from cysts). I honestly don't know if I could wait even longer until the pandemic is over. How long is that going to take anyway??
Not sure. Maybe if the situation worsens I'd change my mind. But for now I don't think I could stop or delay ttc
Good thread

I posted about this today too. NCT Swine Flu Row

The advice is not to stop TTC. They have said having a baby should always be planned carefully but not to stop TTC.

I think if I had underlying health issues I may think twice but this is not going to go away anytime soon and I certainly dont have enough time to wait 3 yrs to TTC! I am olllllld!!

There is a certain train of thought going accross the internet that this outbreak of swine flu and certain other things are quite coincidental after the american goverment said that we need to think of ways to slow down and decrease the populations....

Just thought i'd throw it out there. As someone who has asthma and just recovered from swine flu, its not as bad as they are making it out to be.

Its not stopping me either. Sum of my friends have swine flu and i work in a shopping centre so if im going to get it im going to get it. What the government and papers haven't said is that 40,000 people die from normal flu every year in the uk and so far only 29 have died and most of them had underlying health problems. Don't let it put u off xx
