Exercising while TTC


Hi Ladies

Ive just been thinking about exercising and diet while TTC. Recently I put on about half a stone and am finding it tough to shift. Excess weight makes me feel really sluggish and tired so although I try to exercise I never have the motivation!!

I work a 9-5 in an office (sittin on my bum for most of it) so have joined the gym and am going to two cardio classes (dance and aerobics) and one resistance (small weights). Mind you, thats in a good week...sometimes I only manage 1 class!! I used to run quite a bit but the impact was makin my knee flare up.

I was just curious to see what kinda exercise everyone else is doing...in the hope it motivates me to stick to the gym!!

I try to do yoga once a week and I try to go to the gym two days a week. Notice I said try, because most weeks I do not achieve this. lol

I have a horse so i have to push a heavy wheelbarrow round the field daily for half and hour and then if i get chance i go for a ride for anywhere between an hour to 3, dont relly get chance to do anything else!

I am starting my diet and exercising back up tomorrow, I get on my elliptical for at least 30 mins 4 times a week and do pilates about 3 times a week, I also use our weight machine a couple times a week. Well, I say I do all of this, but it is what I did before my surgery about a month ago and I am getting back into it tomorrow.

I've started going back to the gym once a week, sneak some wii fitness whenever I get the chance along with some of their yoga, and eat fairly healthy. That's a HUGE change for me though. I thought I could still eat like I used to in my teens. My waist has proven me wrong. TTC has been a huge motivator though. I guess I'm thinking more of the to-be bean than my own well being. But, that's a good thing My nutritionist just said try once a week with the whole gym thing. If you try going often in the beginning you'll just burn yourself out. I have the same issue as you do fairydust. I sit on my bum at work from 9-5 and by the time I get home I don't want to hear the word exercise. It's a good thing you're doing the one class (at least) a week. Keep it up! I'm sure the healthy feeling will be a huge payoff in a few weeks. :thumpup:

I walk a few miles about 4 times a week with my neighbor and our kids. Then I also do Zumba twice a week. Its really fun and such a good work out!

Good luck! Exercise actually is good for you while ttc.

I go biking quite a lot with my younger boy, but that's not really excercise I think. I really want to lose some weight before baby sticks because this would make the pregnancy so much easier...

Exercise for me can be tough, as I am wheelchair bound and sitting on my ass allday is not an option lol.

But I do what I can to keep in shape: Yoga, pilates, Tae'bo, Qigong etc. I have a high fibre diet to help keep my body clean from toxins because of my meds. Call me paranoid lol!

I was all ready for a fitness spurt to lose a few pounds before we got lucky - but now my therapist has suggested I ditch the exercise in the am and switch to yoga to see if it will relax me a little (i'm prone to panic attacks and apparently I'm quite highly strung!). I'm no good at exercising after a day at work so I might try aerobics on the weekend only.

It is difficult to know what you should and shouldn't avoid while ttc.

I do Triathlons!
Did one yesterday that was 1mile swim, 23mile cycle and 6.5mile run!
Heaven!! lol
