DEPO PROVERA INJECTION :( please help......

Hi All

I'm really new here and am quite confused on how it all works so here goes!

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me some stories of how long it took them to get pregnant after using the DEPO PROVERA INJECTION. I stupidly started taking it after I had my second son he is now 2 I wasn't told how long it can stay in the system otherwise I would never have taken it. I stopped taking it in march and its now July I haven't had my periods at all when I was taking it and now Ive stopped I still haven't.

Me and my partner really would like you have another baby it just seems to be taking so long for my body to get back to 'NORMAL'.

Also which is quite weird is that just after I stopped taking it I have been feeling quite dizzy and have had stomach cramps most days. I did a test just to make sure but it was a negative

thank u for talking the time to read this.

please help I'm really worried and confused!

I haven't gotten pg yet but I used to be on depo. I didn't get my AF so after about 3 months I went to my dr. and she gave me 3 months of bcp. That regulated me and I just started TTCing last month. I know when I ovulate and I feel like I have as good a chance to get pg as I did before the depo.

Good luck.

i was on the depo last yr, it ran out in march and periods returned in dec, by which time things had changed and im stopped TTC. I tried EVERYTHING to get my period to return, even tablets from the doc but it didnt.

When i had my first jack, the depo run out in the august, had first period the following april, and fell preg with jack in the may.

So you might be in for a long wait for ur period to return im afraid, but you could be the exception, so dont lose hope.

Sorry hun - took us 30 months after 2 years of depo. No obvious issues with either of us either.... Hope it won't take you that long. Hope it won't take US that long this time either!!!

I don't know the answer to this. However my friend is a Doctor and she has the injection as a form of birth control. She says it the most effective bc. She has not had any bleeding since she started it years ago, and says that it actually gradually reduces the size of the uterus to the size of a raisin!

I would imagine therefore, that it might take some time to get back to normal after coming off it if you've been on it a while.

I found a website which says: Women conceive on average 9 months after stopping Depo-provera.

Have a look at this website, it might help: http://sawaal.ibibo.com/search/depoprovera

Ive just read this...

After stopping the contraceptive pill, how long will it take for me conceive?
Since the Depo-provera shot is given at three-month intervals, planning ahead is important. If you and your husband want to try to conceive in the near future, you may choose not to have another injection.Although it is possible for fertility to resume once the last injection has worn off, women experience an average of ten months after the injection for ovulation to return. After stopping Depo-provera

thank you Stargirl69! I'm going to be calender watching from now on xx

hi there i was on it for 10 years my last one was may 08
my first period was april 09 they arent regular yet ranging from 12 days to 32 days and im not sure if im ovulating
so 14 months after stopping it no sign of a bump yet!!!
as for the pregnancy like symptoms i too got these after stopping the depo and i read up on them and apparently it is very common for this to happen
all i can recommend is to have fun during the long wait as trust me it can get you very down at times when you see people coming and going from the ttc section to the 1st trimester!
if you need anyone to chat to during this time im here!
good luck on your journey xxx

I was on the depo from March 2007 - November 2008 i had a bleed in January 2009 for a few days and then in June 2009 i had my first 5 day period just like normal, and now in July 2009 im 4 days late with sore boobs, tired 24/7 and praying for that
Keep positive babes, its a long road but think how worth it it is!
Lots of Love

I had my last depo jab in Jan 2008 and then got my 1st period in Jan 2009 and since then theyve been pretty regular. We've only been ttc for the past 3 months but im interested to see how long it took others to get a bfp after depo xx
