I had the depo injection for 6 - 9 months after my first son was born. My periods seemed to return fairly quickly, but we were trying to conceive for two and a half years before I fell pregnant with my second son. They should give women more accurate information about the depo injection and in my opinion it should never be given to a woman of child bearing age without them explaining the possible consequences with regards to fertility. I hope it happens sooner for you than it did for us but it will be worth the wait. Best of luck sweetie x x x

I was was depo for over 7 years and had my last injection in Nov 07. This ran out in Feb 08 and my periods had returned by July 08. They were a bit irregular at the start but have now settled down.

I went to see the doctor in May 09 and was told I'd have to wait two years before they would do any tests - 1 year for the depo to leave my system and the usual one year of trying.

Then I got a BFP in June but sadly I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. We were devastated but I've decided to look it positively - at least we know a BFP is possible for us. So it took 16 months for a BFP after my depo had ran out. Just keeping my fingers crossed for next time!

Hope this helps

took me a year to get back to normal after having depo for 2 years
I was angry with it as they dont really warn you enough! (I cant take combined pill due to migraines so docs gave me very little choice!)
but some people do get back to normal straight away- I know someone who got pregnant within a few months of it running out! stay positive!

this post is very interesting cos it applys to me also - was on depo for 6 years and last one wore off dec 09. it took me 3 months to get first period in march, which i was pleased about and although they havent been exactly a month apart, i am now on cycle 4 of pretty normal type periods. as each month i get a bit more knowledgable about my body/ovaries/ewcm/opk's etc. fingers crossed for august!!!!

I was on it for 7 years. I came off it in november and fell pg in feb. My mum however, it took her 8 months to get a period after coming of it.

I would advise for you to do regular testing though because if you are not using protection you could get pregnant when that first egg comes if that makes sense.

Also, I had cramping and was pregnant though i didnt get a BFP until three and a half weeks later so test regularly. Good luck

as for the pregnancy like symptoms i too got these after stopping the depo and i read up on them and apparently it is very common for this to happen
all i can recommend is to have fun during the long wait as trust me it can get you very down at times when you see people coming and going from the ttc section to the 1st trimester!
if you need anyone to chat to during this time im here!
good luck on your journey xxx
thank u so much for your kind words! its so nice to know that other people are having the same issues as me. you really do feel alone its crazy how many pregnant people you see around

good luck on your journey! hope u dont have to wait to long to see a

Thank you so much for your reply

I was the same as you I had no problems getting pregnant b4 I haven't had my periods for months now. I never thought id say this but I really wish they would start!

I went to the doctors as I had started to feel really ill with terrible stomach craps etc.. she just fobbed me off by saying that it was my body getting ready to have my period! that was weeks ago have also been feeling really dizzy too which is such a worry!

something isn't right I really dont feel like myself anymore my partner says that I shouldn't worry as it will make things worst but its really hard not too.

good luck for you Hun with your ttc x
