Question

Ovulating Questions...

Hi all. I have a couple of questions about ovulating and your opinions would be really helpful..

I am due to ovulate this month on Jan 1st, but I have noticed that my discharge is already white and thick (it started 3 days ago, I think). I've checked a few times, but the test says I'm not oving or even due to yet. Is this usual? Does it mean that the oving test is not right, or is it pre-oving discharge?

Also, I had very little, if any, discharge last month. Is it possible that I didn't ovulate last month?? (only just started using the ovulation tests this month, so I can't be sure). Is it "normal" to miss oving during the month?

Wishing everyone a v happy, healthy, successful and baby-populating year...
Jo

Depends what texture your CM is? You may have white creamy CM for example which is not fertile.

Fertile CM will be like egg white and stretchy (will stretch between fingers for at least an inch). In the most common pattern, cervical fluid starts out dry after your period and then gets sticky, then creamy, then wet and watery, becoming most like eggwhite as you get closer to ovulation.

Not all women experience this CM change to be obvious but saying that I never really noticed how much I did have until I actively started looking for these signs then it was "woooooo when did that start happening" lol

What cycle day are you uisng OPKs from? Make sure you don't test with first morning urine (I only say that because I was a drip and did).

Thanks for the info. I'm not testing early in the morning, but its hard to take it at the same time each day (I can't really take them to work with me..just my luck that they would fall out of my bag...!) Started OPKs on day 19 (I have a 43 day cycle, so I'm not sure when to start. I think day 23 or so, but thought I'd try it a bit early, as I wasn't sure about CM.

Is 43 day cycle common for you or do you have inregular cycles due to the pill or something like?

If you can test at work you could buy a little makeup bag to fit a test and cup if needed in your bag? I used a shot glass lol You could also try charting - no tests and as you work your awake time must be around the same time each day so that may help?

Heres a chart from the CB website about when is sugegsted to start testing.

thanks for the chart. I've been off the pill for over a year now (about 15 months) and my cycle has settled at about 43 days, although strangely, I had a much shorter cycle before I went on the pill (a long time ago now...maybe my memory has faded?). We've been TTC for about 6 months now. Thanks for all the information!

If your cycle is 43 days then you probably ovulate super late. I have never had luck with OPK's but I'm super impatient. Goodluck!
