Completely irrational fears

So at my day job, sometimes I have hours of time to kill and I can't help but look things up. I'm a knowledge hound! I start on something fairly innocuous, say "phases of my period" and before you know it I'm reading about all the possible things that can go wrong with fertility, pregnancies, births, and other such things putting horrors in my over-imaginative mind.

I can't be the only one prone to this, and maybe talking about some of them will help. Someone please tell me I'm not alone in this

I'm right there with you. I have convinced myself through internet research that I have PCOS. I hope I am wrong. The internet is wonderful, but it can be a bad thing when all you use it for is research to find out what is "wrong"!!

hun- at the end of the day- you are trying for a baby and this is normal. Educating yourself on this process is the wisest thing you can do- so in my opinion, read on love!

it's funny you mention PCOS because I "knew" I had it for months before I got a diagnosis (though my GP at the time didn't give two hoots about what I had to say, and even told me at 190 lbs that I only needed to lose maybe 10 lbs, and who's PG advice was all of "Relax and have fun! hyuk hyuk hyuk").

My big fear right now is an incomplete miscarriage and the thought of bits of fetus hanging around to rot inside me. Morbid and gruesome isn't it?? D: It doesn't help that my husband thought he was helping me by showing me just how irrational it was by teasing me about zombie half-babies. Real F'ing funny, dear.

(usually he's very supportive and loving, but he isn't very patient when it comes to my flights of imagination)

i'm on both sides
DH laughs at me. I seem to find things and then decide I have them

Today I have discovered I have postcholycystectomy syndrome (had my gallbladder removed 12 months ago and still get pain) and DH wet himself

But on the other hand you can learn so much more and be all the more knowledgable when at the doctors and know what to ask for! x

Education is the key love, although remember its just for knowledge, you can read too much into these things, like my sister is 26 weeks pregnant and has no job and stuck in a house with only a bus running every 2 hours so she gets bored, reads up on all the symptoms and shes a real hyperchondriac (sp?) shes been to the hospital throughout this pregnancy more times than the bloody doctors, I sware she should have her own car parking space!

The internet can be a great place.....and a really bad place. Try not to look up random bits of information. The more you do that, the more you start to think that you might have some of these things. Google is not your friend when it comes to some of the TTC stuff. Be rational and pick through things carefully.

"Relax and have fun! hyuk hyuk hyuk"

LOL!! I hate doctors sometimes! My primary care told me this same thing, with that same annoying laugh... I hate that after so long doctors just get used to saying the SAME THING to everyone. I CANNOT relax, so stop telling me to. Ugh!
