Could I have cooked my eggs?

Ok, this might be a daft question, but it's playing on my mind so I thought I'd ask it here (lets face it, who else can you ask such questions)

no idea if anyone will know the answer to this, but hey ho

Ok, I have horrendously painful periods and always have had. I have had investigations and definitely don't have endo - apparently I have very large blood vessels around my womb, which are often associated with heavy and painful periods.

The only 2 things that give me relief are:
co-codamol (and co-dydramol when it's very bad)
and a very hot hotwater bottle (clamped to my belly for as long as necessary) I have one there now, even in the heat of this british heatwave!

and it's started to occur to me that maybe, over the years that I have been doing this, I have damaged my egg supply. I really do have the hotwater bottle very hot (scalding water straight out the kettle) any cooler just doesn't work.

Has anyone come accross anything on the net that suggests that long term hotwater bottle abuse has an effect on fertility?

Daft question I know, but it has started to niggle me

The title made me giggle and nearly spit my brew out, but I have heard somewhere, I think the Zita West book, that the tummy should be kept warm and encourages it, so I think it should be ok.

Hi hunny,

I think this will be ok. The doctor advised me to use a hot water bottle during my period. I seriously dont think that you will have "cooked your eggs"

Good luck hunny xxx

hey hun- your uterus is protected by (even if your a skinny mini, unlike myself!) a layer of fat and skin, and away from any harmful elements. I think this is fine hun, although I hope your not burning yourself!

I've definitely heard that you should keep that area warm to have a better chance of conceiving so i wouldn't worry! Sorry to hear you have bad period pains, mine aren't nearly as bad but they're still really horrible so i feel for you!
