What the heck is going on?

Okay, I'm new here. Not really TTC, actually I'm on the pill! But I like being able to talk to other ladies about this stuff when it's driving me crazy, as it is now. I haven't skipped my pill any days; however, I've been a few hours late taking it here and there. And I've been on the same pill (ortho tri lo) the entire time I've been on the pill (5 years). This cycle I had crazy PMS symptoms, and I normally have none/few. I had really bad lower back pain, cramps that tended to be a bit sharper of a pain compared to the usual dull ache, lack of appetite, and boy was I moody. Then I started what I THINK was my period close to when I expected it, but it was a very light flow, mostly brown, and lasted only 2 days. My periods are almost religiously 5 days, with a longer period occuring once or twice since I've been on the pill and I've never had a shorter period. So now I haven't had any bleeding or even spotting since (it's been 2 more days), but I am still experiencing cramping solely on my left side, no appetite (which is REALLY rare for me, haha), and I have felt dizzy, even a little sick. I know the odds of me being pregnant SHOULD be low, but I went and bought a pack of 3 hpts, took one this afternoon and, of course, was negative. I'm curious, if I'm not pregnant, then what the heck is going on with me? The fact that I am still having cramps is what is really making me suspicious. Any ideas? Any similar situations? Thanks

i'd get checked out by your gp honey, it's not unknown for pills to cause cysts on your ovaries which can throw the proverbial spanner into your cycles, and cause localised pain in that region, and hormonal issues.

alternatively you can wait another few days and test again, like you say the odds of being pregnant are low, but not impossible. if you've been on anti-boitics recently they do reduce the effectiveness of the pill which could mean that you are pregnant. keep us updated!

Thank you. I was nervous that maybe I have PCOS, but about 4 months ago I went to the Dr because I had a yeast infection and I had an ultrasound done, and the Dr said that everything looked fine. Of course I have also read that you can't always see the cysts in an ultrasound. So maybe I should go have my hormone levels checked. Of course, the same month that I drop my health insurance!
