I'm on my 2WW but Christmas is here! I have so many events and so on to go to (meeting friends tomorrow for our Xmas get together, work do Wedn, family Xmas party on 22nd, down the pub Xmas Eve, then Xmas day itself), and I enjoy the odd glass of wine or 2. I'm not a big drinker, just 1-2 glasses if I go out (or 4-5 if it's a big night out but not planning that while TTC!).

Usually, I'd try not to drink during the 2WW but sooooooo difficult over the festive period, especially if it turns out I'm not PG. I guess it's a no-brainer, baby comes first but just wondering, what are you girls doing about drink over the festive period? And is the odd glass of wine or 2 OK?! x

Not getting drunk following a postive pregnancy is wise ... During TTC'ing I would drink when I would any other time ... weekends, christmas, birthdays, out at the pub etc.

im not gona drink but i dont really drink alcohol often as when i do i tend to dance with furniture on my head i get drunk really easily and then suffer the next day really bad even if i only have 2! i think the odd glass of wine would prob be ok, i think as long as you dont overdo it! theres so much controversy about how much/any you should drink if it has any effect etc. Plus if you did get a bfn how extra raging would you be if you hadnt had a drink!

i will have a drink or two but won't get wasted, af will be here by 25th/26th so if i get a bfp i won't drink at all. if af shows up then i'll probably get wasted

I agree, don't completely put your life on hold, you need to enjoy your time with friends and family, and if you enjoy a drink here and there, I don't think it would hurt. If you are really concerned about it, then maybe just have a few sips or half a glass of wine.... I am not a drinker either so, I don't really run into this problem. Also, I know a lot of women are concerned about caffeine intake. I have been only having about half cup of coffee in the mornings, and a soda here and there. Best of luck during your 2ww! I am in the same boat!

I would never drink if I knew I was PG - and if I get obvious symptoms I'm PG next week, I wouldn't. But if I'm just waiting for AF and am not sure if PG, then it's so difficult - I mean, when the embryo 'implants', it's already taking its nutrients from you and this can include alcohol. But agree, as long as it's the odd glass or 2 and I don't get hammered, there's no harm ...

And if I get major symptoms next week, will do a test Xmas Eve morning so might know by then anyway.

Besides all this, I don't get the feeling I'm PG yet at all - bar the major cramps I'm getting but that's probably cos I've started the festive pig out early! x

Best of luck to you!! Keep testing all week before X-mas because then you will feel guilty and worry about it if you could be preg. I would never drink if I was preg either, you hear such horror stories about women and their babies that do. I have this friend whose wife was preg, didn't tell him, and played it off as she wasn't...drank and smoked, partied all the time!! And gave birth and their son was like 3 pounds, if even, and he is a year now, or almost a year and he is STILL very under developed and tiny! I can't believe she did that to her child, who has to have FAS and I am sure is going to have a difficult time throughout his life. I don't know all the details, that I am kinda glad I don't...

avistar, that's so sad about your friend, his own son is now sick because of the mother. there is so much information and awareness out there nowadays there is just no excuse but pure ignorance

i really hope the little boy has a loving family that will support him throughout his life.

I'm not gonna drink but thats because if i have 1 i end up siting in the corner with a bottle of Jd lol no i used to drink very heavily ( not like AA or anything) but i am so desprate i am not drinking at all. but i dont see y a couple of glasses would hurt and after all it is christmas.

I know, I do think that she loves her son, but at the same time....what the hell was she thinking??? Maybe she was trying to abort the baby and it didn't work...I just don't understand! But how do you rationalize something like that??? I know Mojo!! Don't have sex if you don't want a baby! And if you want sex and don't want a baby...just use protection while knowing in the back of your mind that conception is still possible! ARgh! I just hope that she is trying to be a good mom for the sake of her son.
